He actually owns one of the Petro convenience stores (can't remember which one) and took his knowledge from there to open a shop of his own. Good story.

Noticed another round of demo at Northgate. Not much left except the end with Joeys, a bit by the theatre, and a bit in the middle where Magic Cuts and the pharmacy are.

Maybe it was a typo but in the event that it wasn't, you mean somebody actually thought they could make any money selling carrots? In that case, yeah, I would imagine anything other than free would be too much to afford every month.

Tear it down and properly develop that whole lot!!!!!!

All these Lululemon spinoffs seem to be struggling. Kit + Ace closed all stores in the world outside Canada, and are now closing down Canadian ones and will apparently only keep Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. Is Iviviva closing everywhere?

That little island at Confusion Corner probably has more potential than any other site in the entire city.

Completely agreed. Not only the most potential for a developer, etc., but the most potential to completely transform a massive area. Would properly connect the two villages, make the northern end of Pembina more attractive for redevelopment (one storeys become towers, as is in Plan Winnipeg), and start to stretch OV to South Osborne.

Not hard to picture CRUs fronting Osborne, McMillan, and even maybe some large-format facing Donald. Put parking in the middle of the ring of retail, with residential above. They could put a huge public parkade in the middle of it and make some real money off it while still having lots of retail/commercial/residential there.

Does anyone know if BellMTS plans on keeping the MTS buildings on Osborne? It would be great to see that whole lot change in the next decade.

Yes they are keeping them - they serve as the call center for tech and sales support

Something going on with PC Financial now. First they sold off their gas stations and now this. Email I got says they are rebranding and closing the store pavilions. They are ending their business relationship with CIBC but apparently CIBC is still running it, announcements are forthcoming.

According to CBC it's going to be called Simplii now. Better not start charging fees in the future!http://http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/cibc-1.4249139

I remember back in the 2000s when CIBC raised its rates, telling reporters that it was all about fairness.

They were raising rates at a US company they had acquired, and it just wouldn't be fair to them if they didn't raise rates for their Canadian customers too.

There was a typo I missed. "to too" should be "is too".
Fresh Carrot an organic food store. Expensive carrots. I will miss the organic milk.

Is there some sort of chocolate revolution happening? There's chocolate and dessert shops (chain and independent) opening up everywhere these days - I just don't get it.

Down from when they had smaller location's in most of the of the retail malls.

They were in City Place, St. Vital Center, Polo Park. I can't remember if they were in Garden City or UniCity malls.

Apparently the Canadian owners of PetLand are distant relatives of mine. I have never met them but I think some of my other cousins have.

Can't say Im sad. PC's customer service was abysmal. We went from doing all our banking there (daily, savings, Mortgage, LOC's) to virtually none.
