Agreed. They are excavating some of the route already for aggregates for the SW section. The grade will be interesting at both ends; 5 or 6% maybe?

In other NL Highway news:

Route 75 / Veterans Memorial Highway will be receiving upgrades in hopes of addressing the safety issues that dog the highway. There have been several fatal accidents on the highway in the past few years.

It will be the first highway in NL to receive center line rumble strips.

Route 75 connects Conception Bay North and the Trinity South shore to the TCH.

That’s what I’d think too. If a town’s basically in the middle of nowhere, bypassing it won’t hurt the town.

On the flip side, that’s why in Ontario, when 400 bypassed Nobel which is immediately north of Parry Sound, the small town became residential.

I find it funny that A15's called Autoroute des Laurentides and A73 Autoroute Laurentienne, yet that the 2 freeways are in completely different cities. If one doesn't exercise caution, the same's gonna end up in Saguenay thinking it's Mont Tremblant.

Well even Regina Bypass costs $ 1.88B. ._.

Infrastructure investment is necessary and yet expensive most of the time.

But nothing will be as expensive as widening 4 km of Highway 1 in Kicking Horse Canyon.

I wasn't complaining about the cost--just stating what was said by the transportation minister. This is also just one small segment of the road.

Yeah, but with the new Bow River bridge and the challenging terrain, it's not surprising the cost of this section will be so high.

Two systems interchanges with many bridges drive the cost upward as well.

After the events of the recent G7 Summit, I was under the impression they were going to rename this road the "Donald Trump Memorial Highway"
