My understanding is the artwork is the proverbial newspaper on the windows before the store opens.

I've seen landlords do this in Toronto as well for vacant units

I'm guessing that it's an Indigenous artist. Not a traditional one though lol.

The two-story building is covered in a 30-foot-tall mural by Canadian designer Mooren (Mo) Bofill, with contributions by Musqueam First Nation artist Debra Sparrow. It features products including the AirPods, Apple Pencil, and other designs.

My roommate recently retired from Rona, and has said that the Canadian Lowe’s stores are expected to be renamed Rona.

I think that all of their bigger locations should be RENO-DEPOTs. And they all need a clockzilla behind them.

There used to be Reno-Depots in a number of provinces, now they’re only in Quebec. Are Harveys and Subways in Lowes and Home Depot (and Reno-Depot) still a thing? It seems that most of them closed down, and the space they used to occupy just sits vacant. Not sure Rona ever had those.

Our Home Depot in Timmins once had a Subway but it has been gone for awhile. The one in Sudbury used to have a Harvey's but it close a couple of years ago. The Lowes in Sudbury still has a Subway in it.

Many Walmarts in the U.S. have Subways in them and but I've never seen any in Canadian locations. Just McDonald's in most. Subway is definitely not a restaurant chain that gets me into a store.

I don't think either Lowe's in London ever had restaurants in them. I remember the Subway in my local Home Depot but it's gone, and I think it might have been another fast food outlet prior to that. I just can't see the point though. I've grabbed a sausage on a bun coming out of Canadian Tire, but I've never felt like I wanted a sub or a cheeseburger on way out of shopping.

Does remind me of the commercials TSC used to run (back when country singer Michelle Wright did their commercials) that said "One thing you won't find at our stores is a restaurant because we will have you in and out so fast you won't need a meal" lol.

We had a McDonald’s in one of our Walmart’s, but it was replaced with a Mary Browns Chicken.

I always thought that was pretty weird with Home Depots having Subway and Harvey's. Even in my high-school/university age peak fast-food eating years I never felt like grabbing a bite while on my way into Home Depot to pick up toilet parts or whatever. They're all gone now IIRC, I don't think any of those food outlets survived.

Canadian Tire always has the guy with a hotdog cart out front, though... somehow that seems to work better

Does anyone else find the smell inside Subway to be nauseating?

Yeah, I remember those. I guess if you're doing some home renos, you don't have time to make yourself a meal, so pick it up at Home Depot?

Glad to hear poutine stands outside Canadian Tire isn't just an Ottawa thing. I was wondering.

Food carts and home reno places seem to be a common combo, which does make some sense. Apparently the Australian chain Bunnings is known for cheap sausages sold in the parking lots (a Bunnings snag) and I remember seeing food stalls set up in the parking lots of building supply stores in South Africa.

no, neither ever did.
The Rona on Wonderland used to have a "Real Canadian Bagel" franchise, but its gone.

every year it seems that there are fewer and fewer Harvey's.

The only food place leaving a big box store I have only remotely been interested in was Saskatoon where Canadian. Tire would regularly have some community group or another with a fundraiser in front of the store. Otherwise the concept is sully.
