nvm, I see you were being a witness for the truck driver, not exchanging with the guy that went out of control. If the guy wasn't spitting on you, you should be fine. You might want to isolate for 14 days anyway to be sure lol.

Actually, I was just telling him that I called the cops too. Later on, he was pointing at the scratches on my car (thinking that I got it from the crash) so I told him those were from years ago (when I was backing into narrow parking spots).

But yea, that work van was completely done for. And yes, I stayed back to tell the cops what I saw.

^ The light traffic is the only positive of all of this coronavirus business. This was filmed late in rush hour on a friday evening. I've never driven on the 401 in daylight with conditions like this before.

I did some westbound filming too, but the footage isn't nearly as nice.

I’ve noticed construction sites are actually closing lanes mid day now, unlike before. I drove to Vaughan from Hamilton on Thursday and there was lane closures on the 403 and QEW in multiple locations for bridge repairs.

It’s crazy being able to maintain 120 km/h on the 401 through Midtown Toronto in daylights.

Yeah, I've noticed that too.

I saw them doing light bulb replacements on the QEW through Mississauga where there are no shoulders a few weeks ago midday on a weekday.

Previously that work had to have been done on a sunday morning only.

I noticed the OPP were out in force on the 401 today: haven't seen them set up with radar in years. Above 140kph seemed to be their trigger point. Nice being able to get from Waterloo to High Park in 55 minutes.

^ They did replace it. It's the first COMPASS sign with the new Ontario logo (to my knowledge at least).

I am always amazed at how much more of a freeway system KW has versus London. It is not even close.
And, KW now has LRT. London doesn't even have BRT.
As for the 401, it has been expanded much more significantly through KW...10 lanes in some spots. I get it, due to the proximity to the GTA, there is more pass-through traffic (shouldn't be any more local traffic).

The urban areas are roughly the same size, but London has a far, far less developed transportation system.

I think Kitchener is actually much larger in terms of traffic volumes because there are a lot of cross commuters from Guelph as well as the GTA. Plus it does have about 40,000 more people in the CMA which does contribute to that fairly significantly, it’s a 7% difference.

Also London has a much more robust arterial network. Kitchener’s layout funnels traffic onto the freeways, limiting the amount of arterial roads they have. London instead does it with large arterial grids.

Of course you have Hamilton too with probably the most robust freeway network of them all. It’s traffic is the worst out of the 3 though too, being the only one that really experiences peak hour congestion.

Hamilton’s problem is that both the LINC and part of the 403 are under-built for the amount of traffic they get. The 403 specifically is badly congested westbound west of Highway 6 at certain times and have definitely gotten busier between Ancaster and Brantford in recent years. (I remember when there was no 403 between the two)

Anyone know what's up with the centre lanes being closed in eastern London? Are they replacing the median wall or something? They've had the temporary walls up for a few weeks and I don't see anything happening at Veterans or west of that. I never go east of there anymore, so I don't know if anything is going on towards 74.

401 through Mississauga, 427 beyond the Airport and 404 beyond Highway 7 all retain the 100 km/h speed limit despite construction though. That's why I wonder if it's a hit-or-miss. I mean, speed limit's one thing. The ability to attain it is quite another.

Maybe adding 2 lanes doesn't require dropping the speed limit but adding more than that many does?

It feels as though the re-construction/widening of the 401 through the KWC area has been going on for three hundred years. Easing congestion my ass. The congestion is worse with the endless piecemeal sections (creating bottlenecks) being upgraded.
