Danny is taking the city to court as the city is holding back permits yet again. This time they want a roundabout where 2 traffic studies determined a traffic light near the Costco/Starbucks entrance. Traffic lights are in the million dollar range....the roundabout would require a large amount of land as well as the reconfiguring of underground services such as water, sewer and electrical, bringing the price tag between 3 and 4 million.

Danny said the roundabouts are too close too each other. Same thing when the city said back in 2017 that they're building 3 roundabouts on Prince Phillip Drive but nothing has been done since. But we're a year away from the road being over capacity. These roundabouts should be built first before the city wants other ones built.

Not to defend the city, but they have a bunch of them on the planning books. They are starting the Majors Path/Portugal Cv Rd/Windsor Heights roundabout this year apparently. This is a multiyear project, in a very high traffic setting. I'm sure there's no appetite for 2 such projects at the same time.

Under Armour is opening a 10,000 sq ft store in the parking lot across from Marshall's and Dollarama. Construction has already started with footings being poured now. It's possible that they could be open in time for Christmas.

What is your source for this information.
There no mention of it on Dewcor or Plaza.ca websites.

Looks like a new sportsplex is moving ahead at Galway.
Still gotta get approved by city of St Johns.
With Williams current rocky relationship with the city, I wonder how hoops will he have to go through to get approved.

Province is involved with this one, so it will happen.
Should be contingent on Southlands Boulevard being completed.

Framing is now complete for the new Under Armour store in Galway. Materials have arrived on site for the roof and facade.

From the July 28th 2023 Telegram:
"Galway is currently set to open a Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Bank of Montreal, Bogarts Jewelers, Mary Brown’s restaurant, and Mcdonald’s." So
far out of this list we got Bogarts, and Marks. Nothing was said about Under Armour until after this publish but what's the hold up with the restaurants?

BMO and Five Guys are to be built up by Costco and have been ready to go for some time. The city won't issue permits until Danny builds another roundabout. That's why he is now suing the city.

The All Newfoundland recently had a story on McDonald's. They apparently wanted a lot of covenants in place but that was all ironed out. It was supposed to start ASAP near A&W but I have seen no activity. As for Mary Brown's, I have no idea where that is going.
