What I don't understand is why Boom seems to get a pass on rampant drug use(there are raves there where there is basically just water sales at the bar and staff look the other way on very visible drug deals) yet the once a decade male revue dances will sink the city?

You know that answer. Nobody wants to get involved in that one.

Well, they're not touching it with a 170 metre pole. Any longer and they could reach from City Hall and touch Boom. (At least according to Google Maps)

Question here....with recent announcements with Co-op selling to sobeys and now the closing of the corp stores, how does this affect the Fredericton co-op store, if at all?

It won't, as the Fredericton store is non-corporate. Converting it to a Sobey's is still possible, but unlikely due to Co-Op's unfortuate location (used to have direct access from the Vanier, now you need to exit and take a rather inconvenient detour) as well as its proximity to the Prospect Street location.

Not too surprisingly, Brad's backpedaling as fast as he can.

Apparently he realized that you don't need to spend 150,000$ to keep an already closed bar closed for five months.

I really hope there are people looking to run against him next year. Alberta kicked the Tory's out after 30-some years in office; it's past due we did the same here in the city. (Kicking out someone who's been there longer than a lot of voters have been alive)

I knew there was going to be some backpedaling it was just a matter of when it would happen... It was not the best idea to spend 150 000$ of tax payers money, and it was even a worst idea to then make up a reason to why you spent that money...

Just saw on the Newspaper site that Air Transat will also be returning to the Airport next spring with direct flights to Cancun, Mexico once a week in addition to the two direct flights a week to Cuba with Sunwing.

I see the penthouse is already being erected at Royale T Suites. Anybody know when that one's supposed to be complete?

Damn, that's way longer than I expected. It seems like every time there's a new large building, I forget how long the last one took to build.

IIRC after the last election, Brad said he wasn't running again. That could have changed, of course.

By him back tracking the Irock deal clearly proves hes running again. I think it was a smart move by him by taking that deal back. If he wasn't running he wouldn't care

Only time will tell if he runs again or not. My concern is if our next Mayor is one of those NIMBY supporters. We need a progressive, pro development Mayor with a clear vision. Easier said than done. Give a choice between a tree hugger and Brad I will take Brad every time

All municipal governments have their issues. I've lived in the Fredericton area for the past 16 years (both inside and outside of the city) and I think that in general the mayor and council have done a good job.
