Any ideas on how to change the ordinance without making it likely that another Sugarhole will happen?

I haven't seen any of the changes but I'm afraid it's nearly impossible to prevent the occasional project from languishing for whatever reason. Aside from losing a bunch of interesting local businesses in Sugarhouse, I would argue the Millennium Tower eyesore is way worse than the Sugarhole was from an optical standpoint. That thing sucks.

Are they at least keeping the site free of trash and the weeds mowed? You wouldn't believe how trashy a lot of the vacant sites get here in the downtown L.A. area. They turn in to veritable junk yards and or homeless encampments.

Do we have any renderings of the proposed building or is this another Sugarhole incident?

There was also demo/excavation on the corner of main and 7th. Is the car dealership getting a face lift or are we going to get something else. Anything would be an improvement!

I believe this project is on Main and 6th, but didn't think it extended to 7th:

That's a nice looking project, but I can guarantee that the cool glass-front pool will be valued engineered down from what that rendering shows.

Finally. I drive passed that ugly AT&T building everyday. 6th South needs a LOT of work. This project is still kinda cookie cutter, but I welcome it.

Anybody care to dig up this info from the city? It's got to be public record.

Also, anybody care to dig up the info on the Post District? I had no idea that they are already building.

I found this from Building Salt Lake:

Can anybody dig up the info on this from the city records?

You know, ten years ago this would have been a fun post to comment on, but not anymore (referencing the Sugarhole, of course). But this is great, that has been an underutilized block as long as I've been alive. In fact, it seems like lots of new projects are kicking off. Apparently the worker shortage is being rectified? Or is it just that other projects are wrapping up? The airport is still going strong, so I have to imagine more people are jumping in to fill the demand for construction crews, which is great. Hopefully we don't hit a big gnarly recession anytime soon.

I think a recession is pretty certain unfortunately, just in time for all these projects to start.

The project at 700 S. Main St. is a 241 unit multi-family residential project from PEG Development, https://pegcompanies.com/projects/seven-o2-main/.

The Post District will be a great project. They do not yet have a building permit. They're currently just doing demolition work on the site.

Thanks UtPlanner.

Regarding the Post District, did the city require financial proof that they can build the proposed project before the demolition permit was approved?

Also, are there renderings or drawings showing what the buildings will look like?
