A completely amazing set of Telus Sky closeups by SurrealPlaces on SRC. It really makes you think of the detail and precision that went into the construction of this facade. As Surreal himself stated, "When I think of the electrical connections and detailed work for each LED it's mind boggling how much has to be done for the whole building. I can't think of a building in Canada where they have done this much." Either way, it is simply stunning.

Very nice. Cool and classy. Not my thing though.

Brookfield Place's lighting has come together nicely too.

I saw the video. This would be amazing feature in static white. Unfortunately, the animation cheapens the look. First thing I thought of was Christmas or Fremont Street. Just imagine five buildings next to each other with their own visual effects display. Very least slow it way down.

Lol obviously in the beginning of the video it is drastically sped up. As the following two minutes shows, it is a good speed with a beautiful flow. This doesn't even come close to showing the full capability of the LEDs yet though.

My favorite new building in Canada, amazing!
I wonder now the light affects the residential units, I wouldn’t really want that that flashing in my window when I’m trying to sleep.

Nothing blackout blinds can’t fix! A very worthy investment in any condo.

They are on the outside face of the frame, so it should be barely noticeable in the units.

I like the static displays, but have yet to really enjoy the dynamic ones to be very honest with y'all.

I would have preferred more subtle architectural lighting for such a unique tower.

I'm not talking about the first 2 minutes. It's the whole concept of animated lights. I really don't care if this is the first of its kind in Calgary, Canada, North America or, the world and that the technological capabilities aren't at their fullest. It just doesn't do it for me. It's still garish as classy an installation.

I think of 197 Yonge in Toronto. I could see it from my office window. I thought it was a game changer when first installed. A few months later, it was just a blinding light. Telus is a more advanced design oriented installation and I still like Telus Spark LEDs or the Ryerson Image Centre so who knows. Those installations make sense for their respective usages. This is an office residential building with several being completed every year. Consider when they all have requisite laser light shows projecting from their main facades of all different calibres.

My impression from your posts and a few other posts take more stock in this being the first and/or largest visual effects display than what is actually being displayed. The engineering and programming weights higher than the art. It's new and unique. I remain skepical that new and different is good with this installation and the precedence for many future installations. Less is more is an established path. Static white is timeless.

Before Canada's upcoming tallest building can begin its ascent to 308 metres above Yonge and Bloor in Downtown Toronto, complex structural work is progressing many metres below grade at the site of The One. Roughly 21 months into construction, the site has been excavated and most recently, crews working for Mizrahi Developments finished forming the 32 “mega caissons” deep into the bedrock that will support the load of the Foster + Partners and Core Architects-designed luxury condominium tower.

The mega caissons measure 3.65 metres in diameter and plunge 30 metres deep below the base of the excavated pit. Crews have begun jackhammering away their tops to expose the rebar within. It will be attached to rebar that will reinforce caps on the caissons, which will be formed and pour next. The caps will act as a load-transfer system from the exoskeleton that will be built above them.

Northern lights looks amazing.

I do wonder how it will look once the windows behind are all lit up, hopefully it doesn't ruin the effect.

Would somebody mind making a new diagram of Telus Sky? It does not reflect the design changes that were made a year after the initial proposal.

Were there major changes? Looks pretty accurate for a diagram to me.

Yes. The base was simplified when it went dark. The drawing shows the light version's base.

I'm also quite curious about this...
