They have cleared brush for the second ROW up as far as nearly Bouctouche, a distance of about 20km. There is funding in place for this section, and they will progressively roll out this new section of divided highway over the next five years or so.
Frankly I don't think Highway 11 needs to be divided beyond Bouctouche. This section of highway would take in the entire northern exurban commuter watershed of Moncton. Bouctouche also has a couple of important tourism attractions in the summer (Pays de la Sagouine & La Dune de Bouctouche Eco-Park). Traffic on Highway 11 drops off noticeably north of Bouctouche (I think
JHikka is being a little generous by stating that the highway should be divided to Richibucto).
I will go so far as to state that the highway should be divided to just
beyond Bouctouche. Right now, the province and the feds have cheaped out by promising to divide the highway to just before the town. By doing so, they avoid the need to build two bridges over rivers, and reconstruct two interchanges (one of which is problematic).
The new 11/15 interchange at Shediac is very nice and is quite reminiscent of the Highway 1/2 interchange at Riverglade where the TCH west of Moncton splits into roadways heading to Fredericton and Saint John.
