I wonder if the high rises will ever go ahead next to Jubilee Station.

I forgot to mention the other day that the Original Pancake House on Pembina is now gone (sign is still up and is iconic - I hope someone is saving it). I would expect the Pemby to come down any time now. New project - 1011 Pembina a 12 Storey - 226 unit building.

The old legion is gone and foundation and piling has begun on the new build. 1125 Pembina a 6 storey - 76 unit building.

A change for the better, IMO. The west side of the street in particular still looks like it's 1970 with a bunch of stroad-oriented businesses with huge parking lots.

On a related Pembina note, it's cool heading south of Pembina around Bison where you can see the tower further south peeking up into the sky... it's changing the skyline around there. With all the things that have gone up around there over the past decade including IG Field and more recently, Arc, it's looking much different around there these days. It's nice to see the action spreading a bit farther north.

The ARC looked really nice in the morning sun today. You're also right about the towers further south. The steel frames looks neat.

The stretch of Pembina south of Jubilee will be unrecognizable before long. Work on the Fort Garry Legion site and the Pancake House site is moving along quickly and it looks like the Pembina Hotel is ready to give up the ghost any time now. Next on the list will be the Cambridge Hotel giving way for the new residential development. I'm hoping this is just the start of a wave of redevelopment all along Pembina north and south of Jubilee.

Shindico is to fill in the NW quadrant, behind the walmart with at least on mid rise. If the 2 towers go ahead at the yards in the NE quadrant, that will be quite something.

A bit of a wasteland around nurses/egm, royal sports and brazen hall.

Is there any news about what’s happening to the old Hydro building next to the Walmart on Taylor? I feel like that’s a pretty good infill opportunity there.

It contains a massive portion of Hydro’s IT and server hardware. This is the reason they did’t sell the building. They can’t. Whatever happens with it Hydro needs to retain that portion.

I don't know if I am imaging things but it looks like the Condo's on Kimberly at London are starting to be rebuilt already after the fire.

On the northwest side I see wood framing standing up and it does not look wood charred so I don't think that it was left over from the original building.

If so, that has to be a record for an insurance company settling a claim and releasing funds to resume building.

Would the foundation not be majorly compromised from the extreme heat of the blaze? I am in construction but don’t know the physics of how such high heat would affect concrete slab and/or piles.

That is one of the things I was wondering about. When the condo's a km or so east of this site by Concordia Hospital burned a few years ago it took forever before the contractor started rebuild.

I guess I'll either see more wood go up this week if the rebuild is starting or the demo contractor onsite will take the walls down.

It's just what is up there looks pristine when I drove by today.

I'm not really sure what's going on at Kimberley. Theres still rumble inside the area they're building. Looks like theres hardly been any cleanup. Still burned out wooden frames filing the hole.

Not sure if it's some type of working area to get down in the hole or what exactly they're doing.

Vic's Market will be moving across the street to where the Pancake House building was. They are building a new building. The Pemby should still be coming down shortly.

^^^That's the thing, the planning for the Cambridge property shows Vic's is still there. I'm not sure what is happening, weather the Cambridge owner acquired the Vic's site for more surface parking which would be two steps forward and one step back for the site - or a different purpose for the Vic's building is being developed.

Maybe the developer for the Cambridge site acquired Vic's and will realign the building to completely front Pembina and use the Merriam side as surface parking...which would be better.
