For Martindale it's not really surprising, there's no parking, and many who might use the bus probably go to Saddletowne.

Every station should be as easy to walk to as either of those two stations.

Note that Saddletowne and Martindale are not surrounded by adjacent neighbourhoods that have feeder buses funneling in. Other neighbourhoods that are served by an LRT station are completely landlocked by surrounding neighbourhoods. That is the main reason for the high percentage.

I agree.

I can't walk on a sidewalk from Silverado to Somerset/Bridlewood. For some reason the sidewalk inexplicably stops adjacent to a green space in Somerset.

Replacements + additional cars required for 4 car trains. SE LRT isn't happening for many moons yet.

Calgary’s older LRT cars are failing at a faster and faster rate, leading the mayor to question whether there will be enough reliable vehicles in the fleet when the city eventually moves to four-car trains.

“Are we not going to have enough cars to run the four-cars, because the (old cars) are going to have to be pulled?” Mayor Naheed Nenshi asked at a meeting of the city’s priorities and finance committee Tuesday.

Still think they could have done a better job of managing the temporary bus stop situation. I realize that there wasn't much room around the place but it was quite frustrating to switch over from the C-Train to the replacement shuttle and then have it stop 2 blocks before the other bus stops.

Rode an articulated bus in to work this morning on the route 3. It was still pretty full too. Glad to have the extra room during the morning.

Awesome pictures TallisRH! Went by yesterday to look at the new station. The only problem is the crossing on both the tracks and the road. There was a lot of honking from both trains and cars. People crossing 61st Ave along the tracks as well as people trying to cross the tracks ahead of the train. Cars are also stopping for people j-walking across 61st and actually stopping on the tracks. I think they are going to have to place a fence on the 61st Ave median.

I am really not surprised at all. Why are more 'barriers' being added on the C-Train right of way while we are longing for the C-Train system to become more and more like a metro with higher capacity and improved frequency is beyond me.

It would be nice if they start plucking off all the at-grade crossings that could be separated. More of an issue for CPR rail on the south line, but we are going to have to start taking those on. Seems like something the Feds would pay with railways under their jurisdiction.

Toronto and Montreal don't have these issues because they slowly replaced them starting in the 1800s. We unfortunately don't have the luxury of being around for a couple hundred years allowing them to be all replaced.

This isn't altogether new. This couple (I think mainly the husband) have organized a meeting or two over the last couple years about this.

Doors Open YYC

Calgary Transit will be taking part in Doors Open YYC again this year and are offering tours of the Oliver Bowen Maintenance Facility in the northeast on September 28th and 29th.
