Montreal is on a role lately! It's been decades since this many proposals.

You would not believe how long I've been waiting for this. Watching Toronto/Calgary/Vancouver get all the spoils for close to two decades got me both jealous and glad at the same time (as a Canadian). It was/is also entertaining to watch. Montreal: now it's time to put a little gravy on the fries!

The Cunard Block project is slated for a Lower Water Street site.

The developer of this project, Southwest Properties, has been around for decades and are responsible for projects like Bishops Landing, The Grainery Lofts, and the Bank of Canada (proposed a couple of months ago).

That is not bad, it will be another iconic looking development for the Halifax waterfront.

I like the overall building form, but it might be better if the tower section provided some contrast to the lower sections.

It's often through a juxtaposition of shapes, as well as materials and other design elements that a building can be made more interesting. This is not totally new.
Vague platitude that applies to everything from Dundas Square to Eureka Tower.

FYI, 1 King West doesn't have a single 4 sided floor.
No need for hyperbole. I should have said "mostly orthogonal", instead of that highly-sensitive three-letter word. Anyway my point is pretty clear, despite your best attempts to obsfucate it.

That halifax proposal is already one of favourite projects in the country. Worthy of being placed in any of the big 3 cities in my opinion.

I immediatly saw the similarities between the two as well! its a great design for both, I can't wait to see it on halifax's skyline!

Oh right on top of sheppard? That will do great for the area! Nice building too! I wish people would show more of the cool low-rise stuff that's going on in Toronto, like that!

Hopefully in less then a month when we get back into some T-Shirt weather days people will get out and snap some of the smaller scaled projects.

In fact maybe I will today, the lighting is good under this low cloud deck.

The design hasn't been finalized yet, but it seems it will be 39 floors (probably 120m), this is what we have so far:

The hotel closes down in 12 days.

It appears the 4 storey portion on the right will be demolished, the rotunda and the tower will remain.

Here is the precise location, the tower will be built on the empty lot and on the land cleared by the demolition of the 5 storey portion.

I'm really a fan of, like with 400Dowd, when they add on to the original building itself, instead of demolishing it.
