Isn't Block 71 mostly being taken by Indeed?

I think FB is taking a not insubstantial amount of space.

It's also not unheard of for large multinationals to not name buildings after them. Goldman and Deutsche used street numbers to differentiate their different offices. Especially when you have multiple in one city.

Goldman HQ was always called 200 West internally even though Goldman owned the building and hotel next door. Same with 30 Hudson in JC.

Yes, Indeed is taking up a substantial amount of Block 71. I think he meant The Republic.

FB is taking 3rd + Shoal, not block 71.

Seems to be some confusion here.

Third + Shoal - Largely leased by Facebook, BOA also took two floors

Block 71 - ~50% leased by Indeed

Block 185 - Unknown, but rumors point to significant single lease (i.e. Google or SalesForce)

The Republic - No lease info

I was just at the Block 185 site, and a significant amount of excavation has already been done in a short time. It's moving fast. No pics, sorry.

I just passed the site yesterday, too . . . and The ATX is spot on. They're digging at a pretty decent clip.

No, I meant Block 71. It just seems odd that they're not naming it anything other than its block number. Even some of the other towers now that have had a company take a considerable chunk of space at least have a name to go by.

You can catch a glimpse of the excavation in this photo that was apparently taken today.

I walked by today and they have dug down 20 feet and stopped. It's similar to 3rd and Shoal. There were even surveyors out making sure it was flat at 20 feet deep. Is that as deep as it's going to go?

If that's all the excavation they're going to do then this could start going up really soon.

Hopefully Cielo isn't finished with it and have a way to make it better. It is really bad right now to the point where they may have to change the name because "Don't nobody want to look at your building from Third&Shoal!"

I recall the underground portion being more like six stories so likely 63' or so.

The approved site plan for the underground parking structure is for five levels, so 20' is obviously not deep enough. But the two most recent permits related to this project are for excavation in order to perform utility work on the Cesar Chavez and Nueces side of the site. So pausing at 20' could be for that work.

This is one of deerhoof's photos. This is why excavation moved so quickly. That's a lot of trucks lined up.

Cool. That would be why they stopped at 20' This is the same type of construction that the Marriott used.

Really excited to see all this activity happening so quickly. This is the last high-rise to go up next to the water. I just want to know how a piece of the Independent's crown ended up on the ground of the excavation site...
