Oh wow, at 18 floors, the views of the skyline from the top 10 floors or so of this building will be top notch.

You know I just realized that if Broad and Lombard gets built, it’ll fill the small hole where Symphony House is and there will be an almost unbroken skyline of glass skyscrapers from that vantage point. Pretty incredible

So happy to see this begin its rise above street level.

I honestly think this is the most underrated project in Philadelphia right now. The final impact is going to be so transformative for urban continuity on Broad Street, eliminating a huge barren lot that was long a visual and psychological barrier between Center City and South Philly.

Indeed, it will make this section of the city feel and look more contiguous, and more importantly eleminate a 3rd world feel when the huge lot was, unkempt, empty and full of trash and whatnot.

South Philly begins at South St.

Yes, fair point. Should have specified South Philly below Washington Ave.

You are on the mark though with Washington Ave being the gateway to Center City. Those Beacons were installed on the corners back in the Rendell Days as part of the new branding for Avenue of the Arts. Now it might actually feel that we are crossing into something as opposed to empty lots and drive thrus.

Don't get me wrong, this will be a HUGE game changing project for the area. It's unfortunate that some of prime lots further north were IMO underbuilt. I'm thinking of 777 S Broad and the large rowhomes across the street.

Still have some hope for Dranoff building on the McDonalds lot.

The Gamble lot unfortunately I don't see going anywhere.

Both sides of the street between Christian and Catharine are just embarrassing, so bad. Hopefully there's some upward pressure here to redevelop. Even if it's just King Dranoff building some 8-12 story buildings here. That would be a win.

While I never hold my breath regarding a Blumenfeld or Blatstein "project," I have to hold it a really long time for a Dranoff project.

What's the deal with Gamble sitting on this lot? City council should ban billboards so he's forced to do something (especially on freakin' Broad Street).

He's sitting on a bunch of vacant lots in Graduate Hospital. There was even an article years ago about him being the neighborhood's largest blightlordz and nothing's changed since. Kind of weird bc he lives in the neighborhood

I toured one of those rowhomes over the summer. They were asking $1.7M and it was really nice. Even had an elevator. If I remember correctly it was 5 floors including the roof deck.

Yeah I've been in them. They look great but they don't belong fronting Broad St.
