Lockport,Manitoba - Dam Locks and Bridge

This lock was built in 1910 to bypass rapids on the Red River and permit navigation to and from Lake Winnipeg. Thousands of vessles, from small fishing boats to river cruise ships, make use of the locking system each year.
The area around the locks is a favourite for sport fishermen, bringing anglers from all over North America to the area. The area is famous for "catfish" also known as "channel cats", and holds the record for the largest catfish ever caught in North America.

This isn't "Great" but it is Canadian and it is a bridge.

This is the new Indian Sluice Bridge being built on Route 308 in Yarmouth County, NS. This bridge is standard for new bridges in the province (two lanes, concrete) while the old bridge as seen on the webcam is the older style (metal, one lane).

Edmonton's High Level and Dudley B. Menzies bridges, which has a four-car consist crossing. Sorry the whites of the train are blown out, it was a quick snap.

According to Wikipedia, it's the "first concrete segmental box girder bridge in Western Canada".

Nice simple, functional-looking design.

100 year lifespan? Only? The bridge is going to cost like 6 trillion dollars, can't they make it last at least longer? For Christ sake the Victoria bridge is 154 years old!

Anyways, we're finally getting a new Champlain bridge WITH a LRT and this a few years ahead of schedule. Can't complain, really

I lived in Richmond (Steveston) for 4 years. I fucking hated the Massey tunnel with every whole grained fibre of my soul.

I think they exaggerate the price so if it is lower then that, they will look like geniuses.

I've probably posted these before, but this thread is eleventy billion pages long, so..

Alexandra Bridge

Champlain Bridge (background); Prince of Wales rail bridge (foreground.. decommissioned.. fun to walk across)

Macdonald-Cartier bridge.. or if you live in Quebec, Cartier-Macdonald. Paint over the rust already, please..this pic is 5 years old and it still looks like this..

this is at the foot of the M-C bridge. Ontario or Quebec side? You guess.

Not an amazing pedestrian bridge over the Queensway.

Chaudière (referendum) Bridge.

Somerset Pedestrian bridge, over the Rideau Canal

all from the Ottawa area, by this guy.

I took those pictures from the Tower of History, a 210 foot observation tower built in 1968.
