I was shocked when I saw that! I do hope they restore some of it. The developer was very misleading about this imo. And just when I was thinking Atlanta had turned the corner with adaptive re-use and historic preservation. Thank goodness for Ponce City Market - it's going to be incredible.

Don't panic! As quoted from the link ^, that midtownblue provided; "It is APC’s (ATL Preservation Center) understanding that the building is being disassembled and that a portion of the facade will be resurrected as a shell."

I'll be down filming this site tomorrow & I'll post a video soon...

Let's hope they stick to their word

East Atlanta Development Video's

Development in East Atlanta is hot! Especially around the HFW Park. I stopped by the area on 2/21 and shot these videos:

BOHO 4W: http://youtu.be/lTVIRTU-hzM
Construction has begun on the eastern portion of this development. It looks like the 1st floor is close to up. Meanwhile crews are still leveling the rest of the site and still have a way to go. There's still a huge clay hill on the southwest corner.

AMLI Ponce Park: http://youtu.be/l05vt9A7Udo
Site preparation/grading is continuing. I estimate groundbreaking very soon. Some of these apartments will literally front the Park, super cool!

The Somerset: http://youtu.be/JFNJoob--b4
Site still idel. I heard through the grape vine that this is due to a permitting issues? I hope they get this resolved soon. The renderings of the building look nice. I never noticed the elevation change until I was standing up on Somerset Terrace. IMO when these get built, they will offer some of the best views of the Atlanta skyline.

Krog Street Market: http://youtu.be/zo8EiCraBp8
Judging by the condition of the decapitated bridge over Krog I think its going to have to be completely replaced. It seems rather far gone. I'm surprised it's still standing considering Atlanta's propensity for demolition... However walking around the site, I was unable to find any evidence that redevelopment has begun. I bet they will start soon considering the summer 2013 opening date.

I hope everyone enjoys watching as much as I enjoy creating these videos

Soooo, all these going up and no public transportation around (except buses that no one will take). What's the eta for light rail going down Ponce and North Ave into the city? I'm loving the density and infill.... but there is the infrastructure ready to add 10,000 people to this area over the next 4 years?

Believe it or not, both Ponce and North are underutilized between Ponce City Market and Midtown / 75/85. I think it'll be able to absorb the extra traffic until we get funding sources lined up for the various streetcar lines.

The #2 bus is actually very convenient if traveling Ponce between Midtown and the Ponce market development. And, as far as bus service in ATL goes, is I think fairly well used...not sure about that stretch specifically, but think that route on the whole does close to 3000 riders daily. It seems fairly well used when I ride anyway.

Personally I'd be fine with continued bus service so long as there were dedicated right of way to circumvent traffic in the few stretches that are heavily impacted during rush hours...mostly east of PCM.

The #16 is good for getting to that area too. Living downtown, it's easier for me to take it to Whole Foods (and just walk on the BeltLine) than dealing with the train-bus transfer.

I really wish MARTA would focus on upgrading existing buses (with stops, shelters, posted schedules, etc.) in the near term. Given that rail transit won't happen anytime soon, it's the only logical thing to do.

Krog Street Market is in full force. I took this picture a couple days ago of the inside. They have gutted everything and it looks awesome.

Nice shot! How did you manage to get it? I'd love to shoot a video of the inside before the renovations begin.

Novare has made some more improvements to the deck for Skyhouse 2 (100 6th St.). Also, it seems there is a retail space on 7th now behind the linear park, anyone know about that? http://midtown.patch.com/articles/100-6th-street

For a parking garage I think that looks fantastic! and I remember Viewpoint having a camera, I probably still have the link saved somewhere. I REALLY hope they have one for this project too.

That's a good point. Sometimes I pull out of Dancing Goats and there are literally no cars on North in either direction. North becomes a nightmare between 78/85 and Marietta.
