Oh man, those are too cool!! I had been wanting to make a trip back over there. I'm glad you did. Great framing on those. Man the skyline looks good there. And I really like the way The Austonian looks from that angle. I can't wait to see what it'll look like once they light it.

Mike, I sent you a PM back. I also messaged you on your photo album.

Will it be open to the general public, or by invitation only?

Thanks everyone! Here's one more from yesterday that I didn't post.

What is that crane on the right-hand side of the photo? (Behind the Sabine and rising above it) Is that something at the Concordia site or is it something else?

Yeah, I think it's just one of those two on the UT Campus. You can see the very top of the shorter one just to its left above that state office building. If you look, all the way to the right, is another UT building (science building?). If that crane was for the Concordia site, I would think it would appear to the right of that UT science building. But these are clearly to its left.

It looks to be around UT, but I couldn't think of anything under construction in that area where they'd have a crane that tall. Then again, I don't get over that way very often.

I didn't even see the crane when I was walking yesterday. I only noticed it when I looked at the photo.

Archived 360 Condominiums construction camera photos. From day 1 until she was topped out 2 years later.

Enjoy!

WOW, what a transformation! The Mopac river crossing view is almost unrecognizable now, with all the west end highrises, along with the added density within 2 blocks of lower Congress. Its hard now to recall the 'gaps' in the skyline that existed just a few years ago. Amazing.

Wow! And just a few years prior, the there was an even larger gap without the Frost and Hilton... not to mention 300 W 6th, the Hampton Inn, Austin City Lofts and the Whole Foods building. All of this in less than 10 years.

And then there's this shot, from the mid-80s...which I scanned in from an old Texas Architecture magazine. There was basically nothing between 5th street in the river, with a few exceptions:

Memory lane stuff going on in the last few photo's in that mid 80's picture is precisely the time I moved to Austin. San Jacinto center, 100 Congress and One Congress Plaza don't appear to have begun construction , what a huge change the last 2.5 decades has brought about.

There are 3 cranes on the UT campus, I am not sure if they are for the same thing or not.

The Austonian crane has not been moving much the last week, pretty much stays over Congress all day, although they had something hanging from it today mid day. Guess the topping out party would be soon as stated before for the end of September.

Not sure if anyone noticed but the crane for Lavista on Lavaca came down. So now we have a Intel shell on Lavaca now.

Yeah Lavista on Lavaca is pretty much an eyesore for the moment. I thought they had all the financing done the second time, It really is irritating to see this again
