Have there been any announcements for where the Downtown State Liquor Store might relocate to?
I heard a rumor it could be built into the CCH project? If they could figure out parking so you can get in and out quickly, I could see that being a really amazing liquor store and a perfect location..

So I have been thinking about what an Erin Mendenhall administration would mean for the city, and so far I am feeling really positive about it. She seems to have a very pro-tech, pro-business, pro-transit, and pro-development stance, which I think is excellent news for many of the projects discussed on this site.

https://www.ksl.com/article/46665229...rin-mendenhall
https://slchamber.com/ceo-success-st...in-mendenhall/

She didn't demand blanket resignations like Biskupski, which I think really damaged Biskupski in her effectiveness and in city hall.

https://www.ksl.com/article/46669569...administration

She also placed Natalie Gochnour as co-head of her transition team, who is super pro-development and pro-downtown. Gochnour is often quoted promoting Salt Lake City in articles, calling Salt Lake the next “Great American City,” like this one from a few years ago:

https://www.deseret.com/2015/8/18/20...ay-aug-18-2015

What do all of you think?

Yeah I've been impressed with Mendenhall. I prefer a member who has knowledge of the inner workings of the city over one who has connections to the state government, and it seems she has very well thought-out plans for every major policy area. I'm sure Escamilla would have been good too, but Mendenhall just hit a lot of the same points but better.

My political senses are telling me that Mendenhall will be one of the most popular Mayors in Salt Lake City history.

She'll be a mediocre mayor just like the last two.

Why do you think? I admire her for her downtown goals.

Thanks so much for the pix however you're mistaken about the lack of activity at the Brinshore - they've already put in the ice skating rink.

The Brinshore development was never supposed to start construction until 2020.

It looks like the development frenzy in Sugarhouse is finally making its way further east.

https://www.buildingsaltlake.com/dev...-at-21st-21st/

At first glance it looks like a real good development. This is my childhood neighborhood and aside from stores coming and going (lately, mostly going), this area of the city really hasn't changed at all in 20 years. Aside from one apartment complex behind Blue Plate Diner about 12ish years ago, I can't recall a single new development in the area. I see the NIMBYs and pearl clutchers coming out in force for this one, despite being fairly small in scale overall, and the old Chinese restaurant next to Blue Plate Diner basically falling over and being empty for a decade plus.

This is the same neighborhood that successfully killed a multi-modal redesign of that section of 21st South for traffic reasons - even though in my entire childhood I never remember heavy traffic on that road, except maybe during the peak of rush hour.

Kensington

There is a drilling/coring machine set up on the Kensington lot today with multiple cement truck ready to rock. There is also a long steel beam being staged.

Lots of activity in that state street area these days!

I can't find a news article that mentions it specifically, but as I said above:

The only information I've seen about the Brinshore Development's timeline comes from this article from June:
Quote:
Brinshore’s financing model would require quick action. The federal tax credits they’ve already secured require that residents start moving in by December 2021, and the developers note “we’re already a little behind schedule now.”
I guess I figured there'd be some site activity by now.

This article from October https://slcecondev.com/2019/10/10/hi...alt-lake-city/ says groundbreaking isn't slated until early 2020 like bob rulz said.
