This thread is the OVERALL Philadelphia thread. Meaning, we talk about everything here, and there is always going to be overlap with this threads and others. Usually Highrises and skyscrapers that warrant their own threads, have one made for them. The General Developments thread is supposed to be for every other project. Naturally when a project is first announced, it will posted here for discussion, and then all future updates go in the General Development thread. That's usually how it has always worked and I don't really see any reason to change that.
Amen!

Continue, and my apologies for stirring the pot with what I thought was a legitimate questioning of the Philly threads and its purpose. Philly has come a long way but continues to define itself. I have my views just like anyone else lurking (like me), commenting and expressing their views on Philly development and architecture in this forum. Whatever makes everyone happy with the Philly forum then I'll continue to look and filter as I go through all the threads individually (regardless of multiple posts in the general/development/individual threads...I'll personally sort this out)

I'm just a lurker, but I find it confusing as well. It's nothing personal. We all appreciate that you spend your free time organizing things here. Perhaps if this thread was titled "General Discussion" and the other "Minor Developments" there would be less confusion. Just my opinion. I understand things will be however there are and it's not a big deal.

That sounds good to me (I actually thought about posting something similar). I, too, find the titles "The Development Thread" and "General Developments Thread" somewhat indistinguishable and a bit confusing, and have put duplicate posts in both threads because I wasn't quite sure in which one they belonged.

Also, just want to add my own (continuing) thanks to summers for a job (incredibly) well done in maintaining this place (and contributing his own input).

Oh boy. I hope funding doesn't dry up or get cut prior to this happening! It would be huge if this could get done. Like the article said, this is very much overdue.

IDK why it would take 3 elevators to get from street level to the Broad street line. Wow, it must be quite a crazy maze of train lines, building supports, street supports, electrical lines, water/sewer lines, etc down there! It would be super interesting to look at those plans.

Regarding changing the thread names to something more appropriate and recognizable, I'm all for it. Go for it Summers, you have my support!

Jeesh, newbies.

Some of us have been posting here for almost 10 years without any sort of a problem. I don't really care what the names of the threads are, but the overwhelming confusion over such a simple matter is amusing.

Agreed...I am a relative newbie to these forums but sheesh. I don't care where a post is located. I usually check both the "Major" and "General" development threads anyway when I login.

Come, come, now, no need to deride the newbies.

I'm happy that your 10 years on this forum which, no doubt combined with your years in London hearing the mother tongue spoken properly, allow you to so easily discern the difference in meaning between "The Development Thread" and "General Developments Thread," but some of us aren't that perspicacious.

Always glad to be found amusing, however.

Let's just start a thread about thread content so this conversation can go there. The endless dialogue has become more tedious than multiplicate posts spread over multiple threads.

Tight Philadelphia condominium market means high prices

http://www.philly.com/philly/classifieds...ans_high_prices.html#4Fv571HstEDI9Bry.99

Hopefully, this means more projects proposed and built in the near future (I'm looking at you, potential developers of the Castleway Tower site ).

There is predictable funding now thanks to the state transportation bill. Funding should not be an issue going forward. And yes, the fact that CH station is partially underneath a very heavy building that has mansonry foundations causes a lot of problems that wouldnt be faced in a normal station. The lack of vertical routes to install elevators are one of the problems.

Thus far the One Riverside and SLS projects are the only announced new condo buildings in CC, but one has to think the market can support another. I know the Murano is close to sold out, not sure about Residences at Ritz or 10 Rittenhouse. I would think there is enough demand for another building. We have thousands of new apts in the pipeline but only a few dozen condos.

Also don't forget the ultra luxury building near Independence Hall.

There is also the 500 Walnut building.

And the final floors of Two Liberty Place are being converted to condos as well.
