The last concrete will be poured at the end of this week and topping out of the austonian will be on Sept. 17 with the steel for the crown. I went on a tour on Saturday and I will post some of pictures of the amazing views from the top penthouse 54th floor, sometime soon.

I still just count 58 floors not 59. Because if the 54th floor is the one that is right below that large slab of concreate and 55 and 56 are the two smaller rounded ones then they have only 57 and 58 complete and have not finished the 59th floor yet.

Why aren't you counting the extra thick level above 54, and below what you're calling 55 and 56 as a floor?

I never thought we would be so excited about the courthouse project. Unfortunately that looks like the last big project to break ground until this recession thingy winds down.

Working late tonight, saw the skyline looked nice as I was driving by Zilker, so I stopped and took a photo. This is with my compact camera so it could be better, but still looks purdy:

While I was there taking photos this big raccoon ambles up, probably smelling my P. Terry's sandwich. Couldn't get my flash to work right, so this is all the picture I could get:

An optical illusion. But it looks like the river in that pic is frozen.

Well I didn't think that that thick layer of cement was a level. if 55 and 56 are the two smaller rounded levels above that which means that one is the gym and the other one the party room, then the building is still working on the 59th floor. Correct me if Im missing something though.

I'm just speculating, but it certainly seems it would be the roof of level 54, and the floor of 55, with the the lowest of the smaller rounded levels being floor 56 (and therefore floor 55's roof). Someone, anyone, am I mistaken?

Did anyone find out what is the exact height Austonian is? It listed as estimated at 685 feet tall. It surely looks like a little over 700. Probably at 702 or 703 feet based on how close it is to the crane ( someone on this forum stated about the height of crane is 744 feet?). If it is the fact, Austin surprisely has its first 700-foot tower!!

The height of the Austonian is 683 feet. Archetects dont make mistakes big enough to make a 20 foot error. However I think a 317 tall statue of SRV ontop would be cool. Then it would be 1000 feet. You could even put an observation deck in the guitar.

Yeah, it's 683 feet tall. I emailed the developers and construction company. The 744 foot height for the crane was merely an estimate that we made based on a measured height that forumer Shanny made using a range finder. The height of the crane then was 676 feet. That was before they added about 4 sections to the crane shaft.

That would be just awesome!

This is my favorite skyscraper in TEXAS! I got to drive up to Austin to see it soon! I wish we had something like this down in San Antonio...

Gotta say Austin's skyline is starting look incredible. I love the night look.
