The new convention center has a very aggressive timeline for demo and construction. It will be open in time for SXSW in March of 2029.

iIRC, it’s a 14 month demo time. The new convention center is in site plan review.

It probably depends on if they can get the site plan approved by the time that demo and excavation is done.

Do they have the excavation permits? Pretty sure they can get the giant hole approved independent of the final site plan so they don't lose time.

Demo permits usually include excavation if a project has underground levels. Excavation is underway along Red River. It can be seen in Airwave Dynamic's video in the Waterline thread.
