^Sounds almost too good to be true. Very exciting and also very expensive sounding - $25M seems high to me. If I recall, it's a lot more than the previous owner paid.

That purchase happened like a year ago... I certainly don't have $25M to throw around, but if I did, I'd certainly want to try and get back my investment as soon as possible.

I just wonder what's taking so long for us to even hear a single peep?

The Eaton Centre was built at a cost of $77m in 1990 (~$94m in 2000 CAD). The impeccably monikered Italo Ferrari purchased the property in 2000 for $3.6m (~$4.6m in 2011 CAD); he's arguably more famous for his diversified holdings and assorted character flourishes.

Here's a pre-Linc flashback of LRM-related factoids, 2003-2005.

Part of the LimeRidge renovation includes a big restaurant on the main floor next to the Old Navy, it'll include lots of patio space.

What could be better than a patio in a massive black top parking lot?

No thanks.

Some people will love it, no doubt. To each their own I guess.

I'd like to see those lots out front developed into commercial and residential space. Create a street wall / boulevard leading from Wentworth to the main entrance. Parking could be tucked away behind these buildings. That would make the place slightly more urban at least.

I always thought those parking lots right on Wentworth at the lights were wasted as parking lots. There's a ton of parking at Limeridge, so why not build on them?

Spring Rolls

I am very much looking forward to this popular TO restaurant chain opening up a location here.

It's going to be a Denny's.

I got these results when I looked up 200 Centennial Pkwy N in the city's online permits search:

Permit Type Status
12-104481-00   Restaurant > 30 People   Alteration Issued
Description
Interior alterations to an existing restaurant "DENNY'S".

There's huge amount of empty parking space along the Limeridge Rd side.

That makes sense. The Upper James LC is one of the old format stores. It, Queenston, Dundurn and Jackson Sq. are the only ones left in the city and I don't see any of those stores being easily replaced with a new, large format store.

According to my neighbor, who's in management with the LCBO, this is going to be a showcase store.

What would differentiate it from the other new format stores, being a "showcase" store? Bigger size or something?

I don't know. That's just the term my neighbor used. From looking at the size of the building it is going to be large.

Some of the newer liquor stores have things like kitchens, where they do food and drink courses and demos, and large refrigerated rooms full of beer.

East Mountain Walmart

The Zellers at Upper Sherman and Mohawk has been closed for only a few days and the inside is already Walmart colours. I heard it is going to be a Walmart Liquidation store. I also heard that No Frills has a lease for 3 more years. After that, maybe redevelopment?

LOL

All Walmarts seem like liquidation stores.
