Sweet! Thanks!
This will be the only part on the east or south facades that will be continuous from street (porte corchere) to top of the tower without a setback - so this is definitely representative of the glass on the upper storeys of the tower.
don't jinx it, they might pull a one wall on this one
No, but they might pull a Flatiron/Carina/Callisto/Ritz/all other condos with curtain wall on only the prominent or architecturally-interesting side of the building...
look again at the render and be very afraid:
It's too bad the rectangular volumes to the north and east of the "prow" feature go all the way to the top as well... makes the crown too busy. If I were the city, I would make them shave off part of a couple floors and stack it on top.
Excuse me, I don't understand. How would the final product differ from this rendering? Will they leave off the exterior curtain walls on one or more sides? I'm really curous. (And I bet a number of members are, too). Could I ask you to explain in more basic detail. Thanks. I'd really appreciate that. This is an important addition to downtown.
Well... there's this tendency in Vancouver to, uh... I don't know if it's because everything just costs more to build in this city or what, but it seems like we can never get a pure curtain-wall condo. It's almost always a hybrid of smooth curtain wall for the main architectural gesture, and window-wall for the rest of the building:
I have a feeling that the curtain wall we currently see on Georgia is only for the part highlighted in blue:
Maybe the rest is also curtain wall, but it might have mullions. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, don't wanna cause mass hysteria, lol.

Me too, in fact I wish downtown had a few more large office towers in that vicinity.
The Burrard skytrain entrance is one of the most impressive areas of downtown, with the Bental, Hyatt, Park Place and other office / Hotel towers rising high above you. there you really do feel you are in the middle of a metropolis. In fact it even has a slight Tokyo feeling emerging from the subway into an area surrounded by 400+ feet office towers....slight...... (the cherry trees there help as well, hehe)
Oh no Ckkelly, your view of the mountains will be gone, you better complain to the city and have them cap this tower at 300 feet
This tower is going to fill in that section of the sky line wonderfully!
Haha.
Yeah when I moved in here, in 2005, I knew that mountain view was on borrowed time. Back then of course 'the Crystal' was on the books but all things considered, I'm definitely excited about this tower.
