no that is a separate venture that a Huntsville company is developing.

Huntsville-based Redstone Energy Group, which provides renewable energy systems for municipalities, businesses and the military, broke ground today on a center to demonstrate its systems that harness the sun's energy.

The Redstone Park and Energy Demonstration Center at the northeast corner of Airport Road and South Memorial Parkway will be a "showcase of market-ready technology that's available," said Lori Severin, a principal of Redstone Energy Group who's responsible for new business development. There also will be educational information "on how energy is generated by the sun and managed by Huntsvile Utilities back to the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) grid for use by the public and by nearby buildings in need of that energy."

The solar-energy systems that will be installed and operational at the center:

• Parking Area Solar Assembly (PASA) - REG's primary system that features a canopy with solar panels as its roof. The structures provide shaded parking and electric vehicle charging stations.

The PASA system is manufactured by the company's partner, Outpost Solar, a company in Pulaski, Tenn., that designs and manufactures solar energy systems.

• Tracker system - A system that's tall enough for cars to park under in a parking lot. It also can be used in pastures because the structures are tall enough to allow sunlight to reach crops below and allow cows to graze while harvesting the sun's energy. The system tracks the movement of the sun.

Ground- and roof-mounted systems also will be installed at the center.
Waffle House will probably rebuild in a different location. They are suppose to add locations in the HSV area, the next one may be at 5 Points at the old Sonic location

Tuesday's invitation-only announcement is scheduled for 4 p.m. at SpringHill Suites, 745 Constellation Drive. Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and Madison County Commission Chairman Dale Strong have both been invited to speak.

This was the plan in 2010 for Constellation, as nice as it seemed then, I think the bar has been raised and expectations are higher now that Twickenham Square, the planned Holiday Inn site redevelopment and the two Sealey mixed use projects are complete or underway.

Lets hope it's not a grand announcement then nothing happens for two years.
Or it is 3-4 "phases" which means it won't ever be finished.
For it to be legit construction needs to start soon.

Over on downtowns south side, this will run along Twickenham Square

Two medical district office buildings will be demolished to make way for what they are calling “Gateway Boulevard.”

“We’ve had a tremendous effort in making Huntsville a special place to come, and with our partners and the city’s commitment to revitalizing downtown Huntsville. This road will really serve as a gateway to downtown,” said Michelle Jordan, city Planning Director.

The project will expand the existing Harvard Road, South of Governors Drive, north to Big Spring Park, ending at Williams Avenue, where Lowe Avenue is now.

It will be four lanes, with a large grassy median, sidewalks, and a bike lane. Plans also call for extending Davis Circle to the roundabout on Monroe Street.

Construction is expected to begin in late May or early June, with the project being completed by Summer 2015.

I am really hoping there is a high rise component to the project since I want to buy a place in one.. I also the development is denser than what is shown in the old 2010 proposal. It would be nice to have a very dense side of downtown that is pretty much continuous all the way from our new ballpark to twickenham square development.

does anyone know the status/rumors of the holiday inn property or the parking deck property next to the VBC?

So the quick pics I have found so far via WAFF and WHNT show something of a development at the Constellation site. I need to be patient I suppose, but what I've seen so far is not what I was expecting.

I was hoping for something similar to the original plans, maybe change with a few things here and there, but overall the density and scheme the same. Again, i need to be patient, but my heart just sunk a little bit. Maybe I just need to be open more to the design of it, but all that gray.... all the parking lots! Sigh

I will say at least one positive thing, at least the river promenade area will look nice. And the potential added jobs will be too.

The ball park proposal, if one ever happens, would be to the east of Constellation site where the vacant Coke plant site is. I'm hoping for the stadium as well. But you know Huntsville never gets anything right or what is needed to improve living around here.

I actually like the design a lot but for a downtown location, it needs to be higher and more dense.. I like the colors and all the glass.. I feel the same about the parking lots!

Can we get anything taller than a parking deck?

Hotel is planned to be finished next year, they are all quite different in appearance, this is just what one looks like.
