That is correct. The APS tower on the left, and the talked about Zions Bank tower on the right.

Your douche comment aside... I reevaluated the location and its the hotel that what's his names family has proposed on 1st south and West Temple. If it was the Zion's Bank location it would be butted up against the Kearns building on the north side better than it is. It would need to be to the right a bit farther than it is to be 1st south and Main.

The fact we have so many proposals and buildings being constructed that we lose track of what's what is really nice. When was the last time Salt Lake City had that problem?

It's unbelievable how much construction is still going on at the U. of U. I mean I thought it would let up after these past few years. Now I see multiple huge projects either in the planning stages or under construction. I would be curious as to the construction dollar total since 2000. It has to be in the multiple billions!

KATHRYN F. KIRK CENTER FOR COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CARE AND WOMEN’S CANCERS

Hunstman Cancer Institute (HCI) at the University of Utah is pleased to announce a major hospital expansion: The Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women’s Cancers at HCI.

The new patient care facility will extend from the north end of HCI’s buildings on the campus of the U of U in Salt Lake City. Located within the U of U Health medical infrastructure on campus, the expansion will
allow the HCI to grow by 200,000 square feet and add 48 new inpatient hospital rooms. It will include four floors of clinical space, an expanded wellness and integrative health center, two floors of faculty offices
and two floors available for future build-out based on patient needs. The Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women’s Cancers will increase HCI’s clinical care capacity by 50%.

Utah Theatre - Hines Tower

https://www.sltrib.com/news/2019/11/...ke-city-mayor/

Seems like this board is fairly split on this issue. I understand both sides, but I support moving on and developing the tower. Given the cost, demand, economic realities of saving the theater. Hopefully they can salvage as much of it as possible.

Such a terrible decision, and another government handout. One Salt Lake Tribune comment sums it up perfect.

"The mayor is now pushing to discount the entire price of selling the property, valued in June at $4.07 million — in exchange for major concessions from the developers, including a sizable share of affordable housing in the proposed new tower." NO. If the developer wants to purchase the property at its present fair market value, fine, but haven't we had about enough of giving property away to fat-cat developers on the basis of vague "promises"? I certainly have.

Way to go Jackie "AKA One Term Perm". This is not a good deal for the city. Big Government at it's finest. And government-funded studies are about as useless as the government themselves.

I understand your complaint if you are across the board against government incentives and programs to build "affordable" housing, but if not I don't see how this is any different than tax breaks or other schemes used to get developers to include these lower priced units in their developments.

Regardless, "One Term Perm" is brilliant. I hadn't heard that before.

The plan for the hospital is very ambitious and impressive. Along with the projects you showed, there's also the Acute Care Center (nearing completion) and the Medical Education & Discovery Center (forthcoming). You can find more info on these at this link. Here are some renderings of those projects:

Acute Care Center (opening soon)

Medical Education & Discovery Center

Why would you tear down a beautiful theater that is located in the two blocks south of ccc deemed the cultural arts district of Slc in the city’s master plan? Minneapolis has 4 old theaters in their theater district. One of them was even moved to be closer to the others (similar to odd fellows hall, but on a larger scale). If one city is willing to pay to move an old theater, why can we pay to restore this one? I guess Minneapolis will always have the superior arts scene and collection of venues.

I don’t support it. The move would be contrary to the city’s master plan for the cultural arts district.
