Thanks for the info. I kinda figured that was the story. By "the story" I meant a late 80s downtown residential pioneering thing.
I definitely see them as of their time and pioneering, but I wonder if they haven't outlived their use downtown. Wonder what the property values on the condos must be.
Actually, the prices for those condos are not completely outlandish given their location. The ease at which they go away and are turned into a proper building depends on the bylaws.. IIRC back when they were apartments the development was much larger. I think that might be half of the old railyard..

and yes, they were pink until a few years ago.
You are are correct... The Railyard complex used to continue for at least another block (to the east). That section was condemned and demolished to make way for the convention center expansion (8 or 9 years ago).

Hey actham thanks for the heads up on the Aust.'s brim/crown. Does anyone know if this is still in the design, could they have decided what the heck and a little shade creeping across a penthouse won't be too bad and the visor is really a nice touch. Maybe someone can get a photo of these holes soon. If I recall it is mostly centered on the South side of the building.
Very nice photos, Mopacs!
I'll add my own meager output from today.
Very happy to see your output today. You really got the feel pf everything. The Monarch and Spring, so rendering-like! Yea. The Austonian's 57 floor in play. Like the pics.

Priller those shots of Monarch and Spring truly look like renderings!!!
I agree with you TXLove. You need good light and exposure to do that. And I guess priller has long learned that.
Nice feel to the vid. Pretty old though. Nice to see the change. HD is so cool!

Yes, the change has been immense over the years. You didn't even include a trillion more projects and even more to come!!!!

Wow. What a big coincidence. That's really rare.

There is some wicked skyscraper mingling going on here between 360, Spring and The Austonian.
The quartet is the best of Austin photography in SSP.
Why are liquid nitrogen containers staged on what appears to be a sidewalk or alley? I work for a company located downtown that has legitimate uses for LN2, and we have to keep it in a secured, locked area in a secured access building.
what changes are we going to see in the way of construction on the crown? Are the floors 57 and up going to look like floors or like frosts crown construction. Also will we see a delay in upward progress al la 360 to wait for the windows to be completed. Or will it be more like the spring crown. Great pics yall.

They were not in a secure location. That was the alley leading to the Frost Bank parking garage, off 5th.
In LSM's set of pics, #7 and #14 had a low rise brown and white building I am not familiar with. Is that the reddy ice development? If so that is a major improvement and by the way I enjoyed your vantage points from the north. Views not seen much here.
I've noticed in real life and in these photos that on Spring on the concrete part, the top floor has a dark brown color. It's not the concrete color nor the paint color but somehting else (plywood color really). Anyway have any ideas why this is like this?

are you referring to red river flats? if so, it's a newer apt complex. it's quite nice; located just a bit north of stubb's.
