Is anyone else getting tired of the natives always playing the victim card, and at the same time getting preferential treatment? It's really starting to bug me. You have this article
https://www.radionl.com/2024/04/22/t...for-approvals/ on the Tranquille on the lake development where the natives are affecting the ALR's decision and is holding up what would be an extremely beneficial development for the city. I feel bad for this developer trying to create something unique and having to deal with the selfish natives.
“We believe the main reason the government has constantly found ways to delay making the decisions has been resistance from First Nations,” argued Fritz. “We need to understand that this is privately-owned, fee-simple in the city limits that has been used for multiple purposes over the last 160 years. It meets every single test to separate it from Aboriginal claim.”
Then you have this article
https://cfjctoday.com/2024/05/02/tke...pment-project/ where natives are given 1 million in tax payer funds to develop on "their" land with ZERO pushbacks or hurdles to jump through. They take that money every time, and I don't blame them, but they also screw others over trying to do the exact same thing as them.
I'm not against providing some funding for projects whether it's on band land or private, I just wish our government would tell natives to stfu when it's not on "their" land and has nothing to do with them.
