Looks like DKR might be getting a new video display.

Cool, I guess. Wasn’t the other video board one of the largest in the world and just completed a few years ago?

I believe it was upgraded/refreshed when the south end zone changes were completed. No idea if it's the largest in the world, etc., but it's certainly big enough in terms of what size works in the stadium.

I’m pretty sure the video board didn’t change out for the south end zone. They just reassembled it in a wider aspect ratio.

Actually, I'm pretty sure UT installed a new scoreboard for the SEZ redevelopment.

^^^ you are hereby correct my good pal. the previous addition... "GODZILLATRON" (was the largest in the world initially) was waaaaay past its bedtime, and stadium officials were incurring many trials and tribulations in finding parts to keep it viable season after season. however, the last and very latest video board addition (last season) was constructed all wrong from the very start. it was a huge mess and was harboring many issues with the control center. therefore, they had to purchase an all-new video board which is what is going in now. we shall see... HOOK'EM!

I can sure try. I hear that UT police are very strict about drones. My drone has a short range of a max of 1000ft. If I take off from the LBJ library, I should be able to get a shot.

DKR MEDIA PRESS BOX TO BE RELOCATED, REPLACED BY SUITES

Aug 15th, 8:24 AM

......The University of Texas System Board of Regents has approved athletics to begin taking steps toward relocating Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium's media press box — currently located on the west side of the stadium — to split locations in the southeast and southwest corners of DKR in time for the 2026 football season.

Sources said once the press box is gutted, after the 2025 season, it will be replaced by 10 suites that have already been sold for $10 million apiece.

The press box would then be divided into two locations in the south end of DKR, where the concrete party decks in the southeast and southwest corners are currently located. UT's current press box is on the eighth floor of Bellmont Hall, located on the west side of DKR.

The 10 $10 million suites will be two stories. That means the kinesiology department, located on the seventh floor of Bellmont, is being relocated to the second floor......
