Looks like one of the high rises at the Wicker Park Connection (1640 W Division St) got issued a permit yesterday in the form off a renovation permit. 15 stories, 140 units and 52 parking spaces. This is for foundation thru 3rd floor.

Refresher:

I'm sure Curbed will have it as "breaking news" tomorrow morning

Wow, whole neighborhoods, particularly along the blue line (and to a lesser degree on the red line) are seeing the kinds of development that will truly urbanize and transform them in ways we've never seen. Really stoked about the Wicker Park Connection starting.

Seeing more and more of these developments is starting to make me believe that the boom along Milwaukee Ave will become a mini version of the development boom along LSD in the mid 20th century

Not that Wicker Park is new to gentrification but Wicker Park is basically becoming Williamsburg. Pretty soon there will be a bunch of mid rises and "barely high rises" that cost just as much as downtown. Just like how Williamsburg has a bunch of those types of buildings now that are just as expensive as most places in Manhattan. Or maybe that could be Logan Square. Either way, kind of reminds me of that...

Looks like there's around 10 more floors before it's topped out.

Not sure if this has come up... but the old Citizen bar is being turned into a sales center for 360 West Erie, "38 Three Bedroom Condominiums from $1.2 million" by Belgravia.

It was going to be a data center - but people on here have stated that part of the project fell through at some point (as well as the plan to renovate the Rambler building at 23rd/Indiana) I'm wondering what the new plan is for the Indiana side. I wonder if the hotel has just cut some floors from the tower along Cermak and moved the rooms to the former data center midrise spot.

^ Saw the permit a few weeks ago for Citizen Bar. Makes sense now. This thing will probably be at least 13 stories and might be 19 yeah?

Not positive, but since the cited number of rooms appears to be the same as before, perhaps nothing will be built in place of the data center at the present time.....if so, something will sure be built there eventually.....

Based on the lot - the two parcels next to Citizen that were owned by the city were sold - and size of the units, maybe 3 units per floor, that would seem about right.

Here's to hoping there's much needed retail throughout the base.

Will be good to have more "small" high rises there. Based on the history of this city with smaller downtown luxury buildings, I'd be surprised if there was any business type of space at ground floor. The units start at $1.2M - I think most of the places like this that have gone up downtown are not usually mixed use. I can really only think of a few like 4 E Elm and 50 E Chestnut.

Hopefully they do underground parking too, but if not then I'm going to raise my minimum floor count to 14 or 15.

Does anybody have any info about the hotel planned for the OBriens pub in Old Town?

I was thinking that would've started by now

Article in the Trib about the number of active tower crane permits in the city surging this year, with a mini-profile of each project. Interestingly, according to the data in the article, we surpassed the number this year than were active in each of '06 and '07......
