Here an awesome diagram from Culwulla over at SCC shows some of the inside bones. No elevator.

top of the world

im sure they will build some kind of small service elevator, cant see the ruler walking up 40 plus floors to celebrate the compltion of the building, even the CEO of emaar is royalty, these are very smart people Im talking about.

Wouldnt it be great if the top part was part of the public observation space, whats to say it wont, Im sure the ruler would love the idea if some one presented it to him, not to mention it would hold the highest observation deck in the world for a very long time.

So am I reading this diagram wrong? Are there really 43 levels of unoccupied space in this building???

Notice that the highest occupied floor in BD is actually at level 155 Mezz., or about 583 meters, while the highest occupied floor in CS is 568 meters: so about 15 meters or roughly 3 floors difference (although technically, if you were a maintenance employee at BD, you could walk/climb up to 768 meters, or the "roof" of "floor" 206)

- The highest officially named and "occupied" level is 160 mezz. 3.

The ladders and platforms continue to the top of the structure where they can exit a hatch to an outdoor platform with a handrail to access the lights on the top - the floor of that platform is 818.0 m.

Keep in mind that although there are stairs, ladders, and landings right to the top, everything above 160 mezz. 3 are not official levels and will not be included in the floorcount nor the lower 4 levels below grade.

There is 162 levels as follows:
160 levels
Add 6 - Ground, 155 mezz, 158 mezz, 160 mezz, 160 mezz 2, and 160 mezz 3
Subtract 4 - Skipped levels 41, 74, 110, and 137

Just imagine being up there. I even can´t imagine it!

This is so crazy, so unbelievible. It just like standing at the top of a spire. Imagine looking down!

but it really can ..could be 206 floors because there are floor plates all the way to the top... remember they count the 16 floors in the empire up to the 102nd..so in my books it is a 206 story building....holy shit!!!

- While I agree with you that this structure is equivalent to over 200 floors it only has 162 occupied levels.

Read an interview of Adrian Smith ( the architect ) here.

Also this structure is much more than a building because it is far taller than any guyed mast. This is why I have always referred to it as a structure.

I truly believe what my sig. says. This thing is an architectural wonder and will open the floodgates to numerous taller structures.

Sorry, no elevator, no floor (in my opinion).

And I don't want to see everyone having a 'spire-off' to get 200, 300 floors.

I need to be able to walk into the lobby, and take elevators to the top.

I actually remember an initial proposal to install the first ever Triple-Decker Elevators; but from what I understand its now just double-decked.

Aha, so that's why it looked a bit out of proportion!

On a side note, I had this terrible dream last night involving the Burj Dubai. In my dream I turned on the t.v. and the news channel was showing video footage of the Burj Dubai tipping over due to strong winds. I'm not kidding, when I woke up I immediately turned on my laptop and check these forums to make sure it wasn't really so!

When I was in college I worked for UPS one summer loading trucks. I frequently dreamed of walls of boxes.

Fury, I can't see an image in your post.
