This ramp connects to 3 exits downtown (York, Bay & Yonge streets), and considered urban blight as it deviates from the expressway to provide all this access. There is also a loop ramp as part of the complex that pretty much encircles a park.
The ramp is being demolished to make the park larger and improve the attractiveness of the Toronto lake front.
These ramps will be replaced by a single straight ramp that will connect to those 3 streets via widened arterial roads. Some prep for the new ramp was already completed before the existing ramp closed, such as the new support structures:
