The old Piercey's location on Robie St. has a "for rent" banner on it. I don't know what you could even do with that space

The building itself is falling apart and has been neglected for at least 25 years. When I worked there I found it extremely ironic that a hardware store was in such poor condition.

The Ravenscraig College building on Portland Place (off Gottingen behind the old Marquee) has burned down. I couldn't see the flames but the enormous smoke cloud started to envelope my building up the hill.

Fire Destroys Commercial Building Near Gottingen Street - The Chronicle Herald

Google Streetview

Not positive if this is the site but there was a rumour a year or so ago that a high-rise residential building was planned for Portland Place. Fire isnt good thing especially if someone gets hurt but maybe this is the incentive the owner needs to replace it with some much needed residential density?

That was a very odd building. News reports say that it was 70 years old. I wonder if it started out life as a government structure of some sort for the wartime effort. Apparently it is owned by Tony Metlege.

It backs onto an empty lot so there is now a very large opportunity site available if someone wanted to take it on.

I know many of the folks here probably wish it would have taken the Staples next door with it.

When I saw the flames from my apt in Dartmouth, I went over to investigate and was hoping it was the Staples as well hahaha. Glad no one was hurt in this incident and let's pray for a big new tower on the site.

The Scotiabank Centre signs started going up today. They aren't making it subtle, it takes up almost the entire length of the Brunswick St side of the upper bowl.

Information will be coming forward soon on Case #18996 which is a MPS/LUB amendments and development agreement application for a multiple-unit building at 6345 Coburg Road. The site is currently student rental house sandwiched between low-rise and high-rise apartment buildings. It is directly across from King's College.

I believe Tony also owns the recently burnt out Taj Mahal building on South St.

if it's the white house, with the round porch, that used to be the Home of the Guardian Angel (adoptions).

WM Fares has finally updated their website, it looks great and there are some interesting projects that might be new ones.

These look like they've got a lot of potential--much closer to the quality of projects seen in much larger cities. This is what I mean when I say I want to see more great infill than huge towers. These kinds of buildings are really going to fill out the city's empty spaces and put a gloss on it. If they keep getting built, the city's really going to be a much more robustly urban place in a few years.

The Roberts & Maynard proposal looks great. I was starting to wonder what was planned for that lot seeing how its vacant with an active construction site sign up (but no construction). I'm a bit torn on the commercial aspect but overall it would great for the neighbourhood (even if it does bock my view of downtown!).

I thought The Alexander was going to take up 100% of the infill space behind that building on Hollis st and take up all of the empty space in that area. Thought the building was going to go right from lower water to Hollis
