I wonder when that Tishman hotel will began? Last I heard the neighbors had an issue with the use of the alley for the motor court.

But the hotel I'm most anticipating right now is that one proposed adjacent to the Brittanica building. Love the innovative use of that footprint, it's stuff like that that makes cities that need to accommodate modern needs with legacy layouts so interesting to me.

Yeah, to the point that they put it right in the name:

www.alleysarealleys.org

Interestingly, the site includes embedded Scribd PDFs of protest letters by lots of neighboring businesses.

Roosevelt & Indiana Construction

There is serious movement at Roosevelt & Indiana. The entire lot is being torn up; fencing is going up and there is a good amount of machinery and manpower onsite.

Is that replacing Father and Son plaza? Hell yes! I have longed to see that strip mall bite the dust for so many years

That would be amazing. Big key to North Ave. I saw a "business moving" sign sale the other day. Had a feeling something was in the works

Apparently Crain's wrote an article 6 months ago talking about how the owner of the strip mall was selling it to a potential developer.

Yeah, I remember that. RIP to the parking lot!

Also, late last week they announced that Steppenwolf's selling off their building and adjacent lot on the NE corner of North/Halsted, so the density in the area continues to grow.

^Great to hear! I walked along North Ave from the Red line to the Lakefront once and it felt like I was strolling along North Ave in Lombard; pure hell.

Reminds me of the building that went up on Wells in Old Town at the beginning of this cycle. Very nice, I like the massing, it's a very different shape for Chicago, we don't have a lot of lots that are prime for long narrow mid rises like that. Will really help to start tying North/Clyborn back in to the rest of the city.

I passed by this about 20 minutes ago. There's one of those drilling soil sample trucks on site. Don't know what that means exactly but something worth mentioning.

I'm not sure this proposal has legs just yet.

Could be that the Father & Son Plaza owners are seeking a zoning change so they can sell a fully-entitled property for more money.

In that case, condo vs. rental would be totally undecided at this point.

Curbed put up pictures of the sample drilling rig. Looks almost military with those treaded tracks.

This project was also announced a few months ago on Crain's, but it's worthwhile to post again

1367-1377 W Fulton Market/213-233 N Ogden Avenue
198 ft | 315 units | 145 parking
