Is the one in Moncton a concrete structure? pretty sure it is. I Might be wrong, but I dont think you can go above 4 floors with a wood structure.

Ive stayed there a few times. I never really noticed if it was wood. Of course the hotel was finished. I am going to guess it was concrete though.

Checking Google Maps, the one in Saint John is only 4 stories tall.

Moncton's is 6 stories tall.

The Moncton Hampton Inn is definitely not of wooden construction. It's six stories and of concrete form construction.

Any confirmation how many floors the Freddy site will be? I know that it was originally supposed to be 4 floors but then the proponents went back to council to have 5 floors. Between the time that has passed since the original proposal and the fact that this project has actually changed locations twice...I can't recall exactly the details of what is going on that site

Being wood framed it's highly likely that it's only four storys.

Looks like corner of prospect and Smythe is getting close to being ready for pavement.

The Fredericton site will be 4 floors. They're almost finished framing the second.

I agree. The building that was designed for next to Kent a couple years ago was to be six floors and concrete.

There's been a lot of updates to their hotel standards since the SJ hotel was built, it's going to have a nice look to the exterior. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product for sure.

Fredericton really does need the extra hotel space. But i hope that the downtown hotel gets built soon!

We need the space, but we also have a lot of hotel proposals in play too. Downtown, St Marys and Kingswood are all proposed, all on top of the one being built now.

St Marys proposal is dead. They did a market study and numbers did not warrant proceeding. Heard that a few months ago during the reserve elections

A shame; but maybe in another 5-10 years it'll be worth it.

Still that leaves Downtown and Kingswood, both of which I think are still being seriously planned.

I think
Kingswood is too far out to have a hotel. I dont know what type of clients they would get, maybe a few off the highway. Maybe some for the weddings they have

The proposed Radisson at Kingswood would help market that facility and their new water park as a destination. I could see them do quite well in the family market" especially.

I would imagine that it would do well in business and similar conferences. Hotel, golf course, established bar and restaurant, all lend themselves to being a great spot for companies and organizations to host annual conferences, seminars, etc...

Any hotel out there would be built with Kingswood as the destination, I think you're right on that. It would function only as an "overflow" for Fredericton in a practical sense, people probably wouldn't book a stay there if they wanted to visit the city unless everything else was filled up. It may be appealing to longer term guests because of the amenities on site and, as you said, families.
