These boats being built are about 4 miles from the Burj Dubai site. . . just about everything in Dubai - it seems - is about 4 miles from one another. . . and I wasn't that impressed with the NPR Marketplace segments they did. . . they glossed over everything like a Japanese tourist snapshots of the United States. . .

By the way, you can kind of tell in my last photo, the water has a lot of debris (At least that is what it looks like to me) in the bottom and that is why it is green. The actual lining looks light blue.
maybe it could be done like with the Petronas towers. Where one of the two spires was actually assembled inside the building and raised the small distance upwards. This technique made their victory a certainty. (Because each tower was given to a different contracter, they created a race)

The design architect, Adrian Smith gave an interesting interview about his company and Burj Dubai. He claims that there are 40 storeys left to be built, which could mean 200 storeys all together (current 160 + 40).
