Another quick update from our friends at Webcor.

August 2007

TOWER

Redundancy is the name of the game for a 60 story high-rise structure (This will be the catch phrase for Tower in the next year). The elevator Subcontractor has now started their scope of work for the project.

MID-RISE

A series of major activities have been completed for the Mid-Rise over the past couple of months. First, the Mid-Rise building literally got its first footing with the placement of a 7,700 cubic yard concrete mat. From start to finish, the pour took 18 hours (not counting all the preparation and coordination required to make something of this size work logistically) with a peak delivery rate of 500 cubic yards per hour.

The second completed activity is standing tall over the mid-rise side of the project. The erection of the tower crane was another logistical challenge that was overcome with the use of the shoring subcontractor’s crane and a climbing collar. What made this a challenge were the street use restrictions and the close locality of the overhead MUNI bus lines.

Work is now progressing to remove the bottom level of shoring and forming up the vertical concrete. Shotcrete work is expected toward the end of July.

As for the Beale Street Pedestrian Bridge? Gone.

I took this last week. There's at least another level of glass now.

BT - they are still using the mobile crane. The other day (I think it was Tuesday or Wednesday) all three cranes were in action.

So of course since I posted that on Friday they removed the mobile crane sometime over the weekend. Just the two tower cranes now. (I know everyone is on the edge of their seats wondering about the cranes at this site!)

I'm a little unclear as to the purpose of the smaller crane that was used. Now that its been removed though, I'll guess that they are pretty much wrapping up the basement levels of the mid-rise?

I'm not sure either. They're still well below ground level, so not yet done with the basement levels (some or all of which looks like parking to me).

Thanks northbay420! Yep, that's Foundry Square 1. I have another shot that shows more of it. I'll try to post it in the SF Rundown thread when I get home tonight.

^ yea, foundry square doesnt get much love. the warm facade is a good contrast to cool-looking 301 mission.

Man, that tower going to fit in so nicely. It looks good already and its not even finished. Perhaps when I come back to the city in December they'll be within 10 or so levels of topping off.

New renderings from Millennium Partners' website

I found these new renderings that I have yet to see, so I thought I'd post them here. I'm just trying to imagine Heller Manus' tower right across the street.

I've been waiting rather impatiently to be able to see this project from my place and was excited this weekend when I noticed that the crane has finally popped above the St. Regis! This one has seemed to go soooooo slowly.

Those new renderings are great. I didn't know that the fluted glass would be going up at a diagonal. Much better then just flat glass over the whole thing. It looks great.

This view down Davis St. will forever be dramatically altered, as you can see it poking up in the background.

Nice picture! The view down Mission from 2nd to The Embarcadero is also changing. There is a real canyon now with 555 and 301 going up. I will try to take some pictures soon.

I can't imagine what it will look like when 535, 350, Transbay, and the Piano complex all line Mission in these same few blocks. The density around 1st and Mission is going to be amazing.
