106 Street Survey out for 97-100ave.

My thoughts thus far:
1. We DO NOT need more on street parking in the area as it is typically <50% full and useless space. There are multiple off-street parking options and until those are developed, push parking to those.
2. Let me preface this with the fact that I live in this area and would love traffic calming, but also respect the fact that we need multiple options to get in and out of Downtown in a reasonable manner. Capacity issues already occur on 105st and 106st during rushhour and if 109s has an issue, 106st is the only real next option. To go from 2->1 lane makes me excited as a resident, but not when I look at the grander scheme of things. We need capacity from Jasper south to 97ave, period.
3. Why do we need people parking on that one block during rush-hour; it's almost as if folks purposely want to F^&$ efficient flow up for commuters. There is NO reason to permit parking in that area during peak times, period.
Unanswered questions:
1. Do I like off-peak down to 1 lane, sure, but then how do you work event nights? This route is very busy post concerts and Oilers games.
2. North of Jasper I love it going to 1 lane because of the park and true urban neighbourhood, but ours is somewhat transitional and has to accept that from 8-9am and 4-530pm it will have some peak traffic component to it.
3. IF you want to make 106st 1 lane only, where is the modelling to pick up that extra load factor and where does that go? 103st? I thought that intersection and ability to go down 103st was being removed. 109? It's pretty busy as is.
Local insight:
1. After 6pm, it is pretty quite in general and not a big issue.
2. We DO NOT need more on street parking in the area as it is typically <50% full and useless space. There are multiple off-street parking options and until those are developed, push parking to those.
3. I'd rather just have flat sidewalks, an updated Heritage Trail and some 40km/h signs.
