The documents Iain linked are literally the contracts needed to start moving the project along.

In case anyone is under the impression that development of the Vancouver Waterfront was a fast process: the Boise Cascade mill closed in 1996, and Gramor purchased the site in 2008.

Considering Vancouver is a tiny town in which it’s downtown doesn’t have much to offer that sounds about right.

Now let’s hope Portland doesn’t follow that timeline

Huh? There are over 400,000 in and around Vancouver proper, all on the Washington side of the river. That's not a "tiny town" by any stretch.

Indeed, according to US census estimates, there are over 500,000 in Clark County now, and 192,000 in Vancouver proper. Still the fastest growing in the Portland metro area.

They need to impose stronger land use restrictions in Washington in terms of their urban growth boundaries. If I had any say, all UGBs would be locked in place. I can only hope tolling on the interstates happens for both bridges and puts even more of a lid on the sprawl up in Clark county.

There’s still another month of summer. The demo permit reached “approved to issue” status yesterday, so assuming the contracts are all in order they can pull the permit any day.

Nice. Must mean it’ll start within the next 30 days or so

This weekend I saw two excavators on site and some knocked down light poles.

There are excavators on site that had pulled up some concrete. I didn't see active demolition when I went past this afternoon, but there is some progress.

Drove nearby onto the Broadway bridge yesterday, definitely looked like all the equipment there is ready to commence demo, if it hasn't started already.

Any word on demo starting? Mac said summer 2022. That’s clearly passed. What the hell is going on?
