Ru Lounge (old Flip) looks like it should be open soon.

Dale MacKay’s restaurant in the old Malt City will be called Avenue. They had their first pop up in the space a little while ago and it sounds like it was a hit. I believe there are two more scheduled before the official opening this summer.

I talked to someone who went to a soft opening the other day of Ru. He said it will be much more jazzy than Flip. He said food was good. He described it as sushi and more. He said it would be open in a few weeks.

Does anybody know what is going in the old Jysk beside Leo's East? There was a rumour floating around for awhile that Creekside Restaurant was moving there.

Pretty sure it is a liquor store, might be an assoc with Creekside as well.

Yes. It's been on the Golden Mile site plan for quite a while... along with a massive Bison Liquor (likely using Bonzinni's licence. Nearly double the size of the Sobeys that's under construction at Southland).

New to the plan (since I last looked) are: Freshii; Booster Juice; and Good Earth.

Interesting. Due to the placement and better brand recognition, that may spell the end of The French Press that's a block away.

Beak's Chicken is moving from the truck to a full restaurant year round. 1511 11th Ave which is east of Broad about 2 blocks.

Ru is now open. The menu is 80%+ the same as Orange Izakaya.. Appetizers, a handful of sushi dishes, bibimbap, and teriyaki noodle bowls. They had a few Poke Bowls I think are unique and also a Korean BBQ Burger that looked pretty delicious.

Hope it succeeds.

There are signs in the windows of the former World of Trout/Tiki Room/X-Ray Records building on 11th Avenue announcing "The Cure Kitchen + Bar". No other details.
