Not the most revolutionary design by any means but I think it would look pleasant from the waterfront and across from old town.

It's kind of interesting but I think they could of gone a little bit taller or maybe a few parcells away to make it a little less like an office park. Something is better than nothing though, that's for sure.

Looks like a highrise office park. I don't really like it.

The West Sac riverfront was already a joke once the ziggurat was built.

The original CalSTRs building actually looks great (although I wish it was taller). This new one looks like it belongs in the suburbs.

It looks like it belongs in the 1970s.

Yes, it needs to go all glass and lose the 70s pieces of it. I would be ok with it then

It makes me wonder, who are designing these things? It looks obviously that building does not belong in this era or an urban environment. They obviously aren't cheeping out at $300 million. Do they just hire people with very bad taste?

Was this part of a Planning Committee or City Council meeting agenda? I am trying to find more information on the proposal. Thanks.

I'm not sure how visible it's going to be from the waterfront. It looks like its going to placed over the surface parking lot facing 3rd Street. So considering it's location all the fuss made about it's design seems overblown. But what else is new.

There's more detail and renderings on the CalSTRS building from the City of West Sac's website:

Ridge Capital, on behalf of CalSTRS, submitted a design review application for the second phase of their Headquarters at 200 Waterfront Place. The project includes five stories of office over a five-level parking garage and a stepped down frontage along 3rd Street that includes a lobby, café and childcare center. The property is subject to the River’s Landing: River Three Development Agreement which was approved in 2006. Per the development agreement, the design review is limited to the 3rd Street frontage and requires both Planning Commission and City Council approval. The application is under review and a public hearing date has not yet been set.

I think the renderings are deceptive--the materials appear to be nicer than what the renderings imply. I like that the narrow face is toward the river and the longer facade faces the freeway. Wish there was an aerial view.

Eh, I think it will be some nice fill next to the Calstrs building, like stepping stones to the big guy. It kind of reminds me of the West Sac community center building by city hall. I do wish they would find something(s) to fill in the conspicuously empty lots that have been there for years though.
