Great visual aids NYGuy !

Ten tons of WTC steel went into the bow of the USS New York. It would be nice if they put ten tons (or more) into a new USS New Jersey.

(As a side note, having met Larry Silverstein personally, he is one of the nicest people in New York real estate you could ever meet, a genuinely nice person. He is a self made millionaire who has not forgotten what it is like to be an average Joe.) (Unlike that Trump guy!)

They lit the lights for the annual "tribute in lights" show last night. As always, it caught me off guard because I forget the early run of the light show.
It' still a moving, emotional symbol, and I hope they continue to do it after the complex is rebuilt.

The site of the PAC (performing arts center) would be the most likely candidate for 6 WTC. Tower 5 (where the Deutsche Bank building is coming down) will be 5 WTC,
at least until it gets a name.

One thing has been bugging me about the memorial, and that is the placement of the vents near West St. If they are going to be as prominent as it appears they are,
the Port Authority should have at least gave some pretense of a design. As it is now, they look like huge security barriers (which is probably another use).
Anyway, they block the view of the memorial from the west. They appear much larger than they do in the renderings or model.

On the other hand, maybe the trees will provide cover when they mature, as they do in this rendering...

They were, as ever, spectacular even on test last night...

I don't think the skylight was necessary and the slurry wall isn't leaking it's just stained i think.

This is going to be one of the creepiest, most haunting memorials in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if it has the same somber air as the Auschwitz memorial and museum, but just a little bit less horrific...
