Or go all out and clad it in back-lit glazed units. That is really all curtain wall is, and nobody considers it a blank wall.

OR...since that is the elevator & stairwell shafts, why not glass, at least, the elevators?

Detroit actually has a few murals on the blank side of buildings. This one would be massive, but it's definitely not out of the question.

Here’s Our First Glimpse of the Tower Headed for West Sixth and Rio Grande

https://austin.towers.net/heres-our-...nd-rio-grande/

These drawings of the approximately 608-foot tower come to us via GDA Architects, the Dallas-based firm that you’ll recall is behind the design of the aforementioned Fifth & West condo tower next door, along with the Alexan Waterloo tower avoiding a view corridor on the other end of downtown. The firm has experience designing around these invisible barriers, so it makes sense for Kairoi to hand them the wheel — other players include landscape architects TBG Partners alongside intrepid engineers from DCI, Kimley-Horn, Kilgore, Power Design, and Jordan & Skala.

GDA is the architect of this project, and 16 weeks ago they posted this model of a "coming soon" tower on their Instagram. It seems to be similar in floor count and the CVC dictated shape of this tower.

I'll add that the shape alone would indicate that it is an Austin project. Towers would not be designed like that unless there was something like a CVC requiring it. Another possibility could be that Block 87 is being redesigned by a new architect. But the resubmitted Block 87 site plan hasn't had any info added to it yet to know anything about the latest version.

If it starts soon enough I’ll have good shots of this one from my home and 360.

At the rate it's progressing through the permitting process, we're looking at a 2024 start.

Not dead yet!

The site plan was refiled this morning, and Kairoi is still the developer.

I never posted these, but these are from the CVC determination in June.

That would be nice, but it'll take another year and a half at best for site plan approval.

First renderings. This is up for a density bonus at the DC meeting tomorrow.

Imgur is down now, so I'll link to X for the renderings. I'll post them here later when I can host on Imgur.

I think they are assuming a tall building will be built just west of this to hide it, but pretty ugly in the meantime as with all the other recent blank walls. This will make the Lamar bridge CVC even more defining and the height is decent at least.
