That looks promising, and I'm so glad to see something stealing some of the Hyatt Place's "thunder". Also, the upper portions of the tower, as hinted by this, isn't just another blue glass tower. I love the idea of some more stone.

I wonder if the light parts of the podium screen is glass. Kinda reminds me of the channel glass used by Holl at the Kansas City Art Museum.

To be fair, we did get hints that the tower portion will look different than the above renderings: https://i.imgur.com/OPYsreZ.png

Was there indeed a slight design change on the tower portion? It's hard to tell with this full render.

Urban, I hope so too

Not to be a buzz kill, but they haven't filed a site plan yet. So we are probably a year and a half away from a groundbreaking. But now that they have HLC approval to move forward, we should see a filing soon.

High praise to Hanover - WOW. This thread was just created on Thanksgiving and they've made so much progress already!

For a long time, Honolulu had some kind of height restriction that limited buildings to 350 feet, so a lot of their buildings from that time are that height. It made for kind of a boring building height list. So, I'm cool with it when they don't hit some magic number. Still, I'm sure TheATX is right, and this one probably will be taller than that height. It's also early in its development, so things could change. I've learned to not take things too seriously or for granted.

Now that the HLC okayed the demo, demo permits have been filed. Here's one:

This appears to be an expanded image of the first rendering on post #7 in this thread. From the recent ABJ article covering 37 towers downtown.

The site plan was posted to the AULCC page today for this.

The elevations show it to be 510 feet 8 inches to the top of the main roof parapet with 45 floors.

Normally I would say, "Yay! We now have 18 500' plus projects in the pipeline."
