For the third time, New Westminster: 1 only @ Brewery District. (no longer 3).
SFU has 3: 1 UniverCity condo, 2 for residences.

Sorry, my fault, I didn't mean to sound snarky. I really appreciate what you are doing.

Ahh that was the one I had for "somewhere on Burrard" in the Broadway section. I've gone ahead and deleted mine.

Heather's not that close to Burrard...

There's another project at ~14th at Burrard, planned to be 12ish stories. I'm not sure if they have a crane up yet.

Well it's a start. I will improve the readability + label some features/roads + label the projects soon.
The map shows current crane locations along the North South Corridor including SFU, North Road & Columbia, plus Scott Road.

Back to work today (sooner than expected) and this is all I got done. At least I will be able to locate the rest of the map files. I thought it would be easier but the AutoCAD files for this map have become a bit of a mess, and they were rediculously complicated to begin with. The map below has about 8 layers turned on - and 47 layers off/etc.

Regardless, the locations are pretty accurate except for Metrotown, where some are guesses from memory.

There's a hammerhead crane with no cab in North Van at Mountain Highway/Oxford on the north side of the road.

Is there anyone among the talented photography team who might take pictures highlighting the groups of cranes up in this mushrooming city?

Ya I blew that one, got Heather and Hemlock backwards. Clearly not much of an arborist I've got both in there now.

Creekstone Care Centre. I've added it.

There looked to be 2 new cranes in the Broadway corridor near Burrard. i'll investigate this weekend.

Was sad to hear about the deaths in Seattle.

Seattle crane collapse draws scrutiny in Vancouver

CTV News Vancouver
Published Monday, April 29, 2019

A deadly crane collapse in Seattle over the weekend is highlighting the risk hundreds of cranes dotted around the Lower Mainland pose.

Four people died Saturday after a crane working on a building in Seattle's downtown core toppled. Authorities are working to determine if strong winds played a role in the collapse or if there was an issue with the crane itself.

Seattle has 60 cranes, more than any other U.S. city, but the Lower Mainland has around 250, with 300 in B.C.

"You can't look at the skyline without seeing a number of tower cranes dotting the sky," said Al Johnson, the vice-president of prevention services for WorkSafe BC.

WorkSafe formed a provincial crane inspection team in 2008 with a focus on making cranes a safe work environment and conducts annual inspections.

That same year, a 22-year-old crane operator was killed while working on the Canada Line.

In 2012 a construction crane collapsed on the Port Mann bridge but fortunately no one was hurt.

"They’re big pieces of equipment, they’re recognizable pieces of equipment, and they’re dangerous pieces of equipment," said Johnson.

The number of cranes has risen alongside Metro Vancouver's booming real estate industry.

To see the video of the crane collapse in Seattle go here:

https://www.liveleak.com/view?t=9f7My_1556526467

I was trying to watch the trees on the side of the road to see if they were being whipped around by strong winds. It doesn't really look like it, though. Of course there still may have been strong gusts high up where the crane was.

A crane operator said on Reddit that there's no way that a crane could buckle like that short of sheer incompetence. The wind didn't help, but if the pins were in place properly the wind probably wouldn't have brought the crane down.

250?! I'm way off.

I wonder where they pulled that number, might be from worksafe in which case it would be pretty accurate.

They may also be including mobiles and self erectors which I haven't so far.

250 sounds a bit high, but there are a lot of cranes out there that we don't necessarily take note of. For example, note the 5 cranes at the waste water treatment facility on Annacis Island.

The map is close to complete for the eastern part of Metro.
