Jersey City luxury apartments get US$331 million loan from CDPQ
Tishman Speyer is already constructing the first phase of the project, a 58-story building with 1,017 units, expected to open in 2027

Tishman Speyer Properties LP landed a construction loan to proceed with the second tower in its luxury rental development on the Jersey City waterfront.

The 924-unit tower — directly across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan — will have 10,000 square feet (929 square meters) of retail space at the base. As part of the project, Tishman Speyer will create a public plaza connecting with Jersey City’s waterfront esplanade.

Intense competition for apartments in Manhattan is keeping rents close to record highs, making luxury towers in Jersey City a potentially attractive option for both tenants and investors. Tishman Speyer is already constructing the first phase of its waterfront apartment project, at 55 Hudson St. That 58-story building, with 1,017 units, is expected to open in early 2027.

They could, its just, they need to speed the process up.

When Jersey City per capital is outbuilding NYC, that is sad. It shows that something is fundamentally flawed with the inception to shovels in the ground process.

And Jersey City will take advantage of it. Its just more residents and tax base for the 6th borough.

I'm excited about Bayonne on a side note. A lot of potential.

Work Heats Up at 2,000-Unit Development on Jersey City’s Hudson Street

Quote:
The largest development currently underway along the Jersey City waterfront is starting to come into shape as one tower is topped out and another across the street is ramping up construction.

Work on Tishman-Speyer’s ambitious 55 Hudson has been well underway since work began in 2023. The tower has reached its apex, with the facade on the lower floors starting to come into shape along with the curtain wall on the upper floors.

55 Hudson rises 637 feet at its tallest point and sports a six-story podium base. The tower will eventually consist of 1,017 dwelling units, breaking down as 298 studios, 514 one-bedrooms, 203 two-bedrooms, and two three-bedroom spaces.
