Not that I think these surveys have a lot of validity but the money sense one is about the worst I have seen, they got pretty much everything wrong. Check out the worst 10 in Canada and tell me the survey has any credibility ( sometimes it is easier than arguing over the best ).

its moneysense which deals with money - on a money basis vancouver is a stupid place to live - the cost of living to buy a house is not good money sense for most people - on their terms people should be spending 30% of their income on rent/mortages not something 80% as i think i read somewhere how much it costs most people here

Viaduct demolishers take note, Vancouver lost points for traffic congestion. Turns out trying to deliberately make commutes unbearable isn't good for livability. Who knew?

Probably because of the Malahat.

Anybody who thinks we have bad traffic congestion (worse than the average city) has not traveled much at all.

I've just read the article and it knocks Vancouver's traffic congestion down for...

Vancouver had put shovels in the ground to fix its traffic and transit woes, the magazine said, but the long-term gain comes with short-term disruption.
So, the added congestion, due to upgrading road travel infrastructure, is a reason to get downgraded?!?

And Calgary was ranked 5th. Calgary must be a hidden gem!! The 5th most desirable city in the world to live! If only the Flames were any good.

What these rankings measure, ultimately, correlates highly with country-level governance indicators. There are 3 Canadian and 4 Australian cities in the top 10.

Vancouver takes 5th place again.

Previous year rankings:

And, in another survey, Vancouver places 16th
