Well, there is this: http://www.muelleraustin.com/uploads...nc_Release.pdf

The hotel being announced is not in the Town Center. It is on the edge of the regional retail area across the street from the medical district. But the press release does mention other projects in the Town Center. The Children's Museum and Austin Playhouse are the cultural anchors at the south end of the Town Center, and the AISD PAC is the cultural anchor at the north end of the Town Center. There is also another multifamily building going up across Mueller Boulevard from the Town Center and at least two other parcels within the Town Center under negotiation.

Now that all of the areas surrounding the Town Center are underway, the Town Center itself is Catellus' major focus.

And, the town center is happening, and soon.

The town center IS happening. Look forward to an announcement on that in the near future.
I think you need to find that guy and ask him why he said those things that obviously were not true.

A total of four months elapsed between my post and that press release. In the development world that is very soon. Obviously there were other press releases and media articles addressing the Children's Museum and AISD PAC in that time period, but I am not going to waste my time hunting them all down to put a troll to bed.

You seem to be forgetting that Mueller is a phased 20 year build-out. Construction started less than 8 years ago, and almost half of that time we suffered through one of the worst recessions in US history with very few construction starts after the fall of 2008. Ask anybody who is actually in the development industry, and they will tell you that Mueller has been a phenomenal success. The next couple years at Mueller will make the past 8 look positively sleepy.

Let's get this straight.

When people talked about the Town Center, you honestly thought they meant a lousy hotel was what they really meant? Or the PIAC and Childrens' Museum moves that everybody already knew about? And that's what you were referring to with your claim that things were about to get hopping and we should expect an announcement real soon?

Really?

Mods: I'm desperately trying to come up with an acceptably truthful and serious-enough response to this troll charge that won't sound like a personal attack. The best I can come up with here is that SAM appears to be a liar-for-hire.
