With nearly 160,000 daily crossings, the Champlain Bridge is the busiest bridge in Canada.
You probably meant the busiest international border crossing bridge in North America.

That's not even close, like Nicko999 said Montreal's Champlain Bridge is several times busier.

Some pictures of the Papineau-Leblanc Bridge (it does looks like Metro-One's Coast Meridian Overpass)

I took them from Pont-Viau on June 23, 2010, about 3 hours after the Ottawa-Gatineau earthquake
the left side with the highrises is Laval BTW

Nope. The Champlain Bridge is Canada's busiest bridge ever and Jacques Cartier Bridge comes 2nd.

Agreed...its massive and amazing, plus it turned at 45 min trip into a 10 min one.

I have always liked the Bloor St Viaduct in Toronto because of the subway line.

The suicide net thing is unfortunately pretty ugly and obtrusive.

A little background of this bridge is worth passing on ... the Arlington Street Bridge was originally constructed by the Clevand Bridge Co to cross the Nile River. When delivery was cancelled it was purchased by the city of Winnipeg and assembled over one of the largest rail yards in the nation.

Saskatoon bridges

Here's a few bridges from Saskatoon.

Traffic (aka Victoria) Bridge (1907)

Canadian Pacific Railway Bridge (1908)

Canadian National (aka Grand Trunk) Railway Bridge (1908)

University Bridge (1916)

Broadway Bridge (1932)

Senator Sid Buckwold (aka Idylwyld) Bridge (1966)

I remember when i was in Saskatoon i loved the bridges. Many of them (such as the broadway bridge) seem to have an elegant charm to them.

Was this actually confirmed? I loved Guy Maddin's My Winnipeg, but this was one of the statements I couldn't figure out if it was true or not. Google gave me mixed results.

Nice pictures.

When I lived in the ole Peg, I remember hearing that the Arlington Bridge was to go over the Nile but for some reason it ended up in Winnipeg.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?

I've seen very few Ottawa bridges so far, which is a bit strange since Ott has lots of bridges (including the canal ones)

Here are some bridge pics I've taken over the past few years:

Portage Bridge

Champlain Bridge (top), Prince of Wales Rail bridge (bottom)

Macdonald-Cartier Bridge (paint the rust already..)

Alexandra Bridge

Not a great pic, but that is the Chaudière Bridge on the left, Potage on the Right

Somerset Pedestrian Bridge (aka Corkstown Bridge) over the canal

Laurier Bridge

There are a few more over the canal, but I don't have pics.. someone else might. There are quite a few others in the region as well.

Vancouver needs to build a few more bridges like this.
