Good--more hotel rooms means more tax revenue and fewer folks staying outside the city.

They are putting on the outside of the Days Inn a yellow board on board siding. It looks like that composite siding that has the colour right through it, never need painting and looks like wood.

Thanks for the update, LikeHamilton. I like the skirt on this bldg... I'm still curious as to what material they're going to use on the rounded part in the front?
We'll have to wait and see, I guess. Maybe not too long if we can manage to get this winter weather over with! hahaha

Oh that's not a bad siding, kinda looks like wood. A good pick to go with the red bricks. Thanks for the update!

Probably an exposed staircase like they had at the old Gulliver's Travels Hotel on Centennial.

Gullivers! That place was a gem--another place that faded away without much fanfare--probably the most classic "motor hotel" in the city--and how do you beat a place that had a restaurant called the Lilliputian Room.

That was originally a hotel? I thought it was always a car dealership.

It was! The last one there was Westgate Ford.

Gulliver's Travels Hotel was a hotel at Centennial and Queenston Road. It was torn down in the 80's(?) to make way for a plaza.

Update 02 Apr.

Yes LikeHamilton--I'm thinking Gullivers was demo-ed around '86 or '87 to make way for "Gulliver Square" the Hy & Zels-anchored plaza.

I honestly don't think theres much better they could have done with such a building. It's not really anything much more than a grey box.

Jerk is right for the way that this building relates to the street. Is this building located at the side of the 401 or Main St.? I can't tell from this picture.

I imagine the space between the top windows and the roof will be for the Days Inn sign along Main St.

I don't mind the siding but they could have dressed up that top blank area above the windows!

I don't think it looks that bad--the reclaimed brick is a nice touch.

All brick would've been nice--but according to previous discussions on this Forum that would've been "fake" anyway.
