i think people have given this tower a harder time than it deserves and i have faith that it will be a very clean looking tower which is elegant in a modern way which is something many buildings in vancouver try to be but arent.

Had a meeting in the marine building yesterday so got a great view of the site, it looks like those thick columns we saw earlier don't extend beyond the third floor, they're much thinner for the next floor, still moving really slow though they're definitely not ready to pour the forth floor.

Once this and harbour green are done we're really gonna have an impressive canyon looking west down cordova.

Were the thick columns for the swimming pool (fronting Cordova) or on the other side?

The thick columns are on the tower side (on Burrard), they haven't poured them for the 4th floor yet, but they will, and will still be just as thick. The swimming pool will front CanadaPlace Way not Cordova St. Tower appears to be progressing slowly due to each floor still being different then the one below, once it passes it's podium it'll shoot up. It's still ahead of schedule.

This is the 1st floor in which they are using the forms, so it will go up quickly now, there is still a couple of floors of amenity space on the west side to go though.

The Pan Pacific will be partially closing for $ 60 million in repairs and upgrades. The outdoor plaza where the pool is will be torn up and rebuilt as the surfaces apparently are leaking.

It's all an effort to stay competitive in the market as Shangri-La and Ritz Carlton have raised the bar.

I also understand that the Fairmont Waterfront may be changing hands as it seems Fairmont is not going to want to operate two hotels right beside each other. Any ideas on this?

Those renovations have now been pushed back to next fall, as they would not have been completed in time for the summer cruise ship season.
